Hello I just had a quick question about the gen 3 mani. I recently had my 2016 mustang GT installed with a gen 3 mani. I currently have no tune on it but I’m wanting to know if I plan to get an CAI if I’ll have to retune it again. I’m looking at the PMAS no tune required one. I know it states no tune but will it if it is going to be on a tuned car with not the stock manifold ?

If it's the no tune version, no need to worry.

To be completely honest the no tune required intakes are no good. The maf sensors are super sensitive on these cars. I had the same no tune pmas on my car and the car was running a little off, didn't see any power gains. It felt like the car lost torque and was just sluggish. I put the stock cai back on and the car felt 10x better and stronger. You need a proper tune in order to see power gains. Since you added the gen 3 manifold pairing that with the PMAS and a tune you will definitely see nice power gains. I had the same setup with E85 when my car was naturally aspirated, you lose a little torque but man does it pull better all the way to 7500 rpm.

PMAS builds and calibrates MAF sensors.
The No Tune CAI from PMAS is sold with a recalibrated MAF sensor that substitutes the need to change the transfer functions in the ECM.
No one in the CAI business offers this option but PMAS.

Then that is not a true no tune required CAI. They are just substituting a recalibrated MAF for a tune. Real no tune CAI's are worthless.

It’s a 120mm MAF housing with a recalibrated MAF sensor.
PMAS “No Tune” has caused many to stereotype that phrase. All the other guys No Tune use the OEM sized MAF housing.

So it comes with a different MAF sensor? Is that as tunable as the normal one by aftermarket tuners?

If he ends up adding or changing parts in the future, why not just decide on a tuner now and get a normal air intake. That way he can tune for the gen3 manifold also and a intake

The PMAS 120mm housing and sensor are Flow Bench tested and calibrated to the exact transfer function voltage requirements. This is 100% independent of any other tuning and is a stand alone item.
If the MAF housing diameter is ever altered the transfer functions need to be revisited, the most correct way to do this is by using a certified flow bench testing rig.
We’re talking Mass Flow Meter testing and validation equipment to make these changes.

Sounds like a lot of trouble to avoid getting a tune. Just get a real tune and avoid that BS.

All the CAI that use non OEM MAF housing diameters need to establish a metered airflow map to arrive at the transfer function voltages.

Frankly, recalibrating the MAF is amateur hour. They used to do that stuff back in the fox body days back when they had no clue in what they were doing.

What happens if your out in east bum fuck and you maf dies? now your stranded until you can get a recalibrated one. But if you just have the tune adjusted you can buy a stock MAF from the nearest parts counter and be on your way.

How’s that done ?
I’ve setup and calibrated Mass Flow Meters, there’s nothing amateur about it when chasing a tolerance of +/- 1%.

I can see the possible downside of the PMAS MAF but really these things never go out.,

The benefit is you get a true calibration, not the good enough most tuners send.
