I have this warning and have to turn it off every restart. I never over fill. I have tried all the stuff found on the net, So what to try next to fix the light to not come on.

First time I’m hearing/seeing this mentioned on here.

IIRC, if an S550 came with the security package, the center console and I think gas door had locking capabilities. I also thought that specific security package was for the convertibles, but I could be wrong. The package was mentioned/discussed on here a few years ago.

On my 2018 coupe, if the gas door is open and car is started I don’t recall seeing any dash warnings. My gas door can also be popped open at anytime from the exterior. I don’t have the optional security package so it does not ā€œlockā€.

Maybe some other M6G members can pop in and discuss further.

Not my car but exactly like this. I have cleaned area with cleaner and used WD40. Car runs fine it is annoying to turn that light off each restart.

OK, thank you Joe. It’s not the door but something in the fuel filler tube itself. As it is most likely emissions based you should have it checked out. Also check for codes as I’d bet you will find something.

I don't remember anyone dealing with this specific issue, but there is more to just what you see.

In the immediate area of the opening, there are two flaps, to prevent theft or use of illegal additives.

Further down, another flap and restriction, to prevent gas exiting during rollover events.

Finally, the Powertrain Control Module is electronically connected to the tank and the carbon canister, fuel vapor and emissions system; it monitors the gas tank pressure and works to remove any accumulating vapors.

Some threads on this alarm:

Edit,

A bit more.

This thread title is very misleading.

To address questions in the thread, my '18 convertible does lock the console. It does not lock the fuel door.

The OP's issue is with the filler neck of our capless system. If it were a cap system it could indicate a bad gas cap or it could simply be loose.
The OP said he has tried everything on the internet but it would be helpful to know what "everything" includes. If he tried cleaning and lubing the capless flap/seal without success then he might try testing the charcoal canister vent valve or possibly the evap purge valve although those two things usually trigger a CEL. I suppose that worst case would be replacing the filler neck.

I've read that using a very light coat of silicone grease around/on the seal has helped some people. I'd probably try some dielectric grease.
There are a ton of videos out there across several ford models so don't limit your search to Mustang.
I have seen the issue raised before although I've personally never gotten that message and I have 3 Fords with the capless system dating back to 2012.
Good luck.
