first you have to remember that 1/4 high in the tank is not neccessarly 1/4 of total volume

ps... my hyundai genesis coupe light would turn on in the same range BUT the light was far less annoying i concede
I get it, and I understand that the gauge isn't linear, but I can't imagine the 2015 and 2017 having different shaped gas tanks, and the 2015, the light used to come on under 1/8th tank.

I also had a 2010 Genesis coupe 2.0T (had it new from 2010 to 2015, traded it in for the 2015 mustang), and I don't remember it coming on at 1/4 tank either... And yes, that was just a yellow light on dash, not a audible tone everytime I start the car.

From the manual:
"A low fuel reminder triggers when the distance to empty value reaches 50 mi (80 km) to empty, with additional warnings at 25 mi (40 km), 10 mi (20 km) and 0 mi (0 km) to empty, provided the message is cleared each time. An additional warning at 75 mi (120 km) to empty is provided when the MyKey is being used."

In other words the warning looks at estimated remaining range, not tank level. This is going to be different for everyone on here...

It has nothing to do with how much fuel is left in the tank.

It depends on how you're driving, and how much gas the software thinks you need to go 50 more miles, based on how you've been driving recently.

Driving on the freeway in top gear might cause the light to come on with the gauge damn near E. Driving on a road course at max RPMs and single-digit MPGs might cause the light to come on at 1/2 tank on the gauge.

This.

I've got the warning before and after the 1/4 mark in the past.

Isn't that exactly what the manual says as I posted? DTE has always been a calculated value.

This is exactly correct. Ford has been doing this for years. My 2006 Lincoln Mark LT has the same "50 miles to empty".

I did a HPDE with my '17 GT last fall. It was getting 7.2 mpg!!:D I was laughing when the "50 mile to empty" came on at just under 1/2 tank!!

It is always adjusting, because on my last highway trip it lite up with the needle just above the "E". I got 424 miles on that tank..

I would say that it is totally normal, but it does seem to be a little bit early. Rather early than sitting on the side of the road waiting for someone to bring you gas!!:headbonk:
