Dome light brightness door vs. switch

This week I added a door override switch to my dome light and added some LED bulbs as well since the assembly was off. The bulbs are Sylvania Zevo 6000K LED bulbs they had at Autozone.

What is weird is I am no longer feeling the need to turn the dome light off. The bulbs are now very dim when I open the door. If I turn on the map light directly I get blazing light from the LED bub. They appear much brighter than they had before.

I never noticed a difference with the factory bulbs prior. I just thought they were too harsh when turning off the car at night. I don't like not being able to see out the windows and having my night vision wrecked.

Is it the switch making these dimmer or does the car actually dim the dome lights with door operation and these bulbs are just dimmer at that voltage?

Whatever the reason I'm happy with the results.

Would someone be willing to test the brightness of their dome light between the door open and the map light button?

I never noticed the behavior above when I had the factory bulbs and no override switch.
