A PP front tire/wheel fits snugly in the well, and sticks above the trunk floor about 3"....

You can secure it with the standard spare hold-down, which you'll need to modify for length. I used the hold-down for the 'mobility kit'.
Can you please elaborate on what you needed to do to secure the extra front PP wheel into the spare well? I'm getting my spare set of PP wheels tomorrow and I'm going to throw one of the fronts into the spare well.

I took a piece of 3/8" diameter round stock and drilled and tapped each end with the thread for the mobility kit hold down (I think it was M6?), essentially an extender. I threaded the mobility kit hold down into one end, and screwed the longest M6 setscrew I could find into the other end, a bit of blue Loctite on each.

I don't recall the exact length of the piece of round stock, but I think it was maybe 3"?

I'd rather have a spare tire to get on with my travel from point A to B. I don't care if it's skinny, I just want to take the 10 minutes to change the tire and get where I was going in the first place.

you don't need a spare. just make sure insurance covers roadside assistance. id rather flatbed my car home then put a donut on and have to limp home myself.
That's fine if you're never more than 10 miles from the house. I do quite a few road trips and can easily think of times that I would have had to walk miles or wait an hour before I got to hitch a ride in the back seat with a goat in order to find a cell signal. Then you have to wait for who knows how long for a tow truck to make his way out there. And last week I saw several cars broken down on the side of the highway and each one had windows busted out and trunk open.

Sure, the odds of getting a flat while in that specific location are pretty low, but you really shouldn't have to fear taking the road less traveled.

Today I tested running the spare on the rear, and moved the rear tire to the front using a 5mm spacer I bought on Amazon. There is about 1/8" clearance between the strut and the tire. A little tight for my liking..... I drove the car approximately 2 miles, up to about 60mph. I put it back on the lift. There was no evidence of tire rub on the strut. I was worried about flex in the tire. I am now confident that the spare on the rear and the rear on the front with a spacer would get you home.

Yes. Ordered from a dealer listing on eBay. I think it was $230 shipped.

awesome, so no damage was done to the torsen diff even with the difference in tire diameter? i was considering the same temporary solution...

It didn't grenade the diff. I didn't hear any funny noises. I would only use it to get home. Once there I have other cars to use until the tire is fixed.

Can you link the spacer you bought?

Is there any room left in the trunk if you throw a full size spare in it?

Cool...glad someone verified this. I did the same thing. Bought the spare tire deal from Ford. My situation is a little different because I traded my 2 rear PP wheels/tires to another forum member for his front wheels/tires. So now I have a square setup with 19x9 front PP wheels and tires all the way around ...and I can rotate now also.
(The guy I traded with has 19x9.5 square setup now so he has spacers on the fronts because of the Brembo's.)

So I realized if I had a flat on any front tire I would have to take a rear off and move it to front and put the spare on the rear.
I was a little worried about damaging the Torsen diff but figured I could get away with driving slow and baby'ing it to garage.
I'm glad you were able to verify this. Thanks.

I have roadside assistance (have since the debacle above), but I'd still rather change a flat and go than wait for someone.....

I carry the assistance for real problems on the road, not trivial nonsense like a flat.
How often do you get flats? I've had maybe 2 in 10 years. Is rigging up a spare on your PP mustang, and the risks that go with that, worth saving less than 4 hours in 10 years?
