This is my 3rd time at the drag strip with the 22 GT Premium. If I run in track mode w/traction off I have to pedal thru the 330 which always cost me time, another stang guy at the track today recommended to run drag mode w/traction on, so I slammed thru the 1/8 at 7.9/86mph right after that the motor pulled tons of timing (dead pedal) this happed last time I tried drag mode as well??? I have a 114mm cai/steeda 91 tune (run 93 for knock protection), x- pipe, 275/35r20 ECS02’s and full steeda suspension including IRS alignment and braces. It did the same thing before the tune and cai last year as well. If anyone has experienced this and has any ideas, I would to hear them? Thank you

Does it do it on the street? Can you log it?

I have never ran drag mode all out on the street, I go to OSW in Orlando FL and the track is solid with left over prep from the big tire cars, so it sticks really nice, but I still chirp 2nd and 3rd w/TC on in drag mode. Before the tune it use cut power in track mode w/TC off on street if the tires broke traction. Pretty sure I didn’t break traction past 86 mph, because I already ran thru 2nd and 3rd (10r80 btw), could have hit the rev limiter? I only have a SCT X4, I have never data logged before.

Plug it it and turn logging on, do your run, turn logging off.

then connect the SCT to your windows computer and download the log using the free livelink software, post it here or send it to your tuner

Well, first of all you need to do something to keep that motor from becoming frustrated.

Pull the dyno plug next time. You 100% shouldnt be running any advanced track or traction control with drag mode at the track if you are looking to get a clean run. You need to pull that dyno plug under the hood next to the airbox, or you need to completely turn off traction control/advanced track by holding the button up for like 10 seconds. You will get the advanced track off message on the dash. Its probably just TC stepping in at this point. And thats the only way to be sure its not. Then you can see what ELSE is making the car want to pull timing if thats really whats happening. As said above, only a log will show you that. If you ever head to BMP, I run there all the time with mine and I have a full HP Tuners logging setup I could put in your car for a run so we can see if you are truly pulling timing or something.

And I may have told you in a previous thread, but you can run e20 quite safely if you blend 2 gallons of E and top off with 93. Do that before the track and you will get a bit higher octane than straight 93, and the car's fuel system and fuel trims are more than capable of adjusting for the e20 vs e10. It will be safe and give you more like a 94/95 octane. Let me know if you want to meet up at BMP at some point. I'd be glad to help.

Thank you for the reply, last spring I ran in drag w/TC and Advance trac off, but I blew the tires off from 2-3rd, but that was before the tune which really smoothed out the shifts. If I end up heading over to BMP before summer I will reach out to you. Thanks again!

Man you really need drag radials if you aren’t using them already. The stock tires are pointless to run.

I agree, that is what I was thinking when I left the track yesterday. The current tires are Extreme Contactsport2's which hook much better than the factory trash. I ran 305's on my 392 and SS and would hook pretty good with those, but definitely time for some drag radials.

Are you fully turning off the nanny's by holding the traction control button for 5 seconds thus disabling advance trac?

My car will pull timing on shifts in any setting other than the above.

I did not on the run that I was questioning because I'm pretty sure I didn't break traction at 86mph after I already hit 3rd, but I do know how to turn off TC and Advance Trac on the TC toggle.

I can tell you I get 3-4* more timing on a WOT pull when I run with advance trac off.

So wait. Are you guys saying that timing still gets pulled on a WOT A10 dig even with TC off, if you haven’t also disabled Advance Trac? I’ve been using drag mode, shutting TC off with the first click on the console switch but leaving Advance Trac on out of some irrational fear that it might provide a fail safe to keep the car out of trouble at 90-100mph. Maybe I need to nut up and disable it too. We sure didn’t have it “back in the days” and we’re alive to talk about it.

Yes 100%. Also there is tq management separate from TC that will shite on your parade.
