I actually bought something similar made out of a rubber which provides a bit of bump protection. To get 2 cars on our drive, we have to park very very close together, so I just thought this might be a good idea, in case of the an accidental continental style 'touch park'!

However, whilst it arguably looks better than dealer-fit holder, after fitting an aluminum plate, I just couldn't bring myself to give it a go. Might have a quick go to see how it looks when I take the plates off for the detail/coating in a couple of weeks.

I have asked my dealer not to attach the front holder and to tape the plate to the front bumper.

He said he will do it as long as I didn't mind that the ends of the plate will stick out away from the bumper.

You guys that have managed this, are you using a thinner then standard front plate then?
Dealer is talking crap, as you can see mines about as flush as it gets.

You can bend a standard plastic plate too but you need to apply a load of 3M sticky pads (cover the entire back of the plate) - otherwise you'll find the plate pinging off as soon as the temperature changes...

"Innovative product"
Frames like this have been used in Poland ever since I can remember, at least 20 years (probably more). About 95% of cars have them and they cost about ÂŁ1 each.
They are also very popular in Germany.
Innovative as in, Innovative to the UK, it's amazing what some countries have that another doesn't and how easily exploitable this is for a bit of extra dosh :headbonk:

Well, just bought a pair.

I'll give everyone an update if they look and feel any good, else I just chuck them in the bin.

Big_G did you use the standard plate and what did you use to attach your front and back plates to the car please? I have left it to the last minute to sort a solution as always....

Is your car finally here ????

Yes it's just standard plates attached with 3m VHB tape.

I will hopefully be picking it up on Saturday :)

Just need to buy some of this tape to stick both plates on as I said not to drill the rear bumper either. Where did you get the tape from mate?

Great news! Did you ever find out what the hell happened to it?
Dealer stuck them on for me, then did it again when I wanted my private plate on :)

Cheers :). Nope no one knows anything about why it just sat there in Baltimore.

Weird how each dealer is with sorting these plates. Will give him a call tomorrow and see if they can stick the plates on like they have done with others.

Just ordered some 3M dual lock CLEAR Velcro pads so I can take the front plate on and off when I want to take some nice pics of the car so hopefully they will do the job

Got them on mine and they work really well. Just two little squares have held the plates firmly in place. The front is just a plate but have a bulky plate holder on the rear at the moment which has also held fast. Just as long as no potential jokers know your plates are an easy souvenir!

I put a bit of neoprene in the middle, just to protect the pointy bit of the bumper if someone knocks the front.

Being really fussy, I'd probably go for the round pads if I was doing it now. I did the square and they look a bit too home made.

Cheers Monty at least I know what I have ordered should work out nicely :). Did you have to bend your standard plate to suit the bumper angle as well?
