Those that went the tape option - did the plate bend ok? My thoughts at the moment are to screw direct to the bumper...seeing as I already have the holes drilled for the ghastly plastic think that came with the car. Will but some new plates too - hate that the dealership website is on them :frusty:

3M red tape will keep it on .... probably forever. Removal will likely take the lacquer with it.

I have a motorised Sto & Sho ready to fit, but as said above, definitely needs a square plate with that setup.

Bent round fine and showing no signs of coming off. No cracking in plate either. It was meant to be temporary but I have decided to leave it as it is.

In which case, is it worth me not getting the plates fitted to the car as it's just getting wrapped when it comes, just having something temporary that can come off quickly for when the guys wrap it - don't want to destroy the paint as one of the reasons for wrapping is to protect it! :frusty:

It depends on what they put them on with. 3M red is mega strong - but takes a while to properly cure. If you get home and strip them off you should be OK I'd have thought.

I found the plastic plate wanted to try and bend back in to shape so it looked like it was pulling on the velcro tape. I decided to order the aluminium plates as they look really nice and with some extra strong 3m velcro they fit nicely on the car.

Yeah called my dealer today to try and get it sorted, as always 'Hes busy', literally have to tell the woman at the desk it's urgent to even get a phone back, otherwise he wont - useless.

Manders, your car isn't even built yet and you're calling the dealer to tell them how you want the plates fixing? As far as he's concerned there is NOTHING urgent about your car.

I'm not suprised he's always "busy" when you call. ;)

Nooo, i'm more saying that whenever I call, when I had done before it had to be classed as 'Urgent' to get his attention in general. What I mean is that he will never return a call, ever.

ANd yes, I'd rather give him plenty of warning as i've already experienced his incompetance, i'd rather have enough leway and timespan between me telling him and him actually doing it for me to slap him back with it if he does it wrong.

@slowhand99 it's begining to feel a lot like that, absolutley torrid customer service from him, just going to make him hate me even more when I give him the list of 'Things to check before paying for my car'

It's Mander not Manders btw, Mander's mustang is how my username should say

I'm not even bothering at present. I figure if I ask for my bumper not to be drilled now he'll have forgotten by March so I might as well wait. Once the car gets to Zebrugge he may get a couple more emails.

I don't even email mine, he wont give it out, apparently 'If you need him, call him he'll always get back to you' (His words - evident lies).

Well, i'll still keep prodding him with a stick, may as well, i'll be glad to have him out my hair once i'm done, dealers like this p1ss me off. Show your customer some bl00dy care and attention, i'd have also expected a 'YOur cars due to be build XYZ week' off him, but didn't get that either :headbonk::headbonk::headbonk:

He'll hate me even before I get my car, just wait until it's in Southampton and I call him to send a flatbed down for it - before he even knows it's there .

ÂŁ10,000 says he shakes my hand and acts all friendly during the vehicle handover.

I asked my dealer to stick them on and they did a good job, plus I have just noticed that they used aluminium plates.
