Cheers @Monty at least I know what I have ordered should work out nicely :). Did you have to bend your standard plate to suit the bumper angle as well?
I got an aluminium plate for the front which was really easy to bend to any shape you want. You can just bend the plastic plates when fitting, but I imagine it puts constant pressure on the pads. Not a problem short term I suppose. I think someone did say they used a heat gun to put a permanent bend in the plastic plate but it left a white mark.

Cheers for the info. I have just ordered the aluminium plates but afterwards it tells me they won't dispatch them until I send proof i own the registration, which obviously I don't have until I get the car. Even then I won't because I will need to wait for the V5 to arrive lol...for now I will stick the rear normal plate on and keep the front plate on the dash until the aluminium ones can turn up :)

Unless they get lost in the run up to christmas and only realise when you send them an email almost 3 weeks later asking where they are.

Yes that happened to me and yes they did get them to me the very next day. Mistakes happen and they sorted it immediately. :)

I'd probably just stick the dealers plate on the front using the dual lock for the few days it takes for the ally one to arrive. You can then just put the pads in the same place and swap over.

My neighbor had his plates pinched from his car outside his house a few weeks ago. They reported it to the police who apparently wouldn't tolerate them leaving it on the road (let alone driving), with an admittedly home made plate in the window, or even drive it to halfords to get new plates.

Annoyingly it seems my dealer's pre-delivery inspection center has already fitted the plastic mounting plates... Does this mean they've drilled 2 holes in order to do this?

Wondering weather to request them to take it off and stick the plates on for now until i get the Aluminium ones. Any harm in having 2 screw holes in the bumper?

Sounds like they have drilled your bumper. There's no harm in it, but a lot of us don't want them drilling holes on it
Agree. Whilst many wince at the thought of the gormless main dealer drilling holes into their ÂŁ30K+ pride and joy, odds on that you'll have the plate covering the holes all the time anyway. I've never taken my front plate off my previous car, so the dealer could have chiseled out a cock-and-balls motif for all I know.

Haha

I plan on getting the sho n go plate holder as my car will be going to lots of events, so will look better with no front plate.

And that's the harm...if you want to mount your plate somewhere other than the middle of the bumper you don't want holes drilled.

If you want a "show n go " plate holder I have one you can buy. I bought it but have now fitted a full Roush front facia, so it doesn't fit.
Its brand new , never installed, PM me if your interested

Already have Craig's Custom Plate Holder. It's small but will take a square plate easily. Very fast delivery but cost me an extra 15 quid in duty (

This thread is five years old. Wondering, is an aluminum front plate, bent in the center with transparent 3M dual-lock the generally accepted best solution still? Cheers
