I picked up my 2015 Mustang GT about three weeks ago. I saw this issue with the hood alignment before buying. Dealer agreed to fix. Turns out it isn't as simple as it would seem. Dealer tried to adjust it but didn't have any luck. I contacted Ford. They sent me to a body shop where they tried to adjust it out. Now I have a hood that flops around and some scrapes and dings courtesy of the body shop. First picture is after the dealer played with it. Second picture is after the body shop Ford sent me to. Do many Mustangs have this issue?

They also replaced and raised the hood latching mechanism. Almost looks as if the hood is flattened out now from being forced down too low by the hood latch.

It's still too low in the middle and high on the ends.

Anyone else had to get a new hood because of this? I can't stand looking at the misaligned hood and watching it shake as I drive over normal bumps in the road.

Yes unfortunately I think they may regard this as normal. I noticed this on my stang the very first day I had it.

I am going back to Ford tomorrow (Thursday) and have someone else look at it. I am not happy with it. Too much money for this problem. I have seen many Mustangs on the dealer floor that were "Perfect" and I won't take no for an answer.

it like it's stolen
I just went out and looked at the three that we have here and all seem to have that gap but still not raised above like it seems in the second pic but dam that repair in the first pic is rough looking I would go back and show this to ford for sure. Best of luck with the repair.

Stupid question but I must ask. Did they adjust the rubber bump stops or JUST the latch?

They did a few things. First one (Dealership) elongated the holes in the latch mechanism and adjusted it up. Second attempt (Ford recommended body shop) attempted fixing with a new latch mechanism and adjusting it up.

I took the catch off of the hood one time and with the hood just resting, I could see the issue is with the way the curvature of the the doesn't match the fascia.

Doggone Ford wants to mess with everything but addressing the actual issue.

Because the hood isn't formed properly, when the middle is at or near the correct height, the edges near the fenders flop around when I hit any bumps in the road.

Besides the scrapes to the black plastic radiator cover and the paint chip to the fender, the Ford recommended body shop actually bent the latch on the underside of my hood. Looks like crap on a new car.

It was a special order car. Now I wish I would have just walked away from it.

Looks to me like possibly the latch needs to be raised and the bump stops lowered

Hood latch is already raised to the upper limit of it's travel/adjustment. Bump stops are all the way down too. Hood doesn't have the proper arch at the front. I think it took a set that way from being to low from the factory.

It was even lower than in the first picture before the dealer messed with it.

I could remove the bump stops altogether and it would still look that way in the second picture.

my brother-in-law is retired engineer from ford & he helped me on mine. was simple in my case. adjusted the hood latch & lowered the bump stops. dont remember how it was, but they had this issue & they put washers on the hood side to give a bit more length
