Front bumper alignment.

Anyone else having this issue with their front bumper. It looks like my bumper is pulling away from the head light but only on the passenger side. As you can see from the photos the driver side is fine.

I would make an appointment with your dealer to have them fix the issue. It will only cost you money if you take it elsewhere. If not, try pulling it off yourself and putting it back on and working on the alignment then.

I was looking into how the bumper is mounted to the vehicle, from what I can see it is attached by the wheel well and then by the grill. Not really sure how I can push that area of the bumper in because there aren't any anchor points around the headlight. Maybe I will see what the dealer has to say.

I too had the similar issue of misaligned front bumper on the passenger side, as a result of this, today the bumper just popped out at the edge where it meets the passenger side fender. Attached the pictures. There is absolutely no impact/collision/scratches of anykind, it just popped out on its own. On close observation I noticed that one tab on the far end has broken due to stress. Took an appointment with the dealer tomorrow, should see what can be done. I didn't try to press it back and I am afraid of damaging it further.

I'm not sure, but I think of 2 possibilities of why this happened:
1) The bumper cover was not assembled properly inducing stress on the tabs and eventually over time it gave up (Mine is a 16 eco premium and is just 4 months old)

2) By looking at the gap between the driver and passenger side fenders meeting the hood, I see that the passenger side fender is sitting a little lower than the driver side, this might have caused a constant stress on the bumper cover edge and slowly snapped it out.

Did anyone of you faced a similar situation?

Left the car at the dealer this morning, the SA said it might be covered under warranty but it is very uncommon and the bumper tab might have been broken going over poth-holes which sounded very stupid to me.

They are charging me $129 as a diagnosing fee as they want to find out why it has popped out. Waiting for the SA's phone call on what they found. 129$ for diagnosing is expensive and but got no other option :(

Apparently this Is deemed "Normal." for the cars, last time I brought It up, a sales rep walked me out to literally every mustang on the lot and they all had the same thing. @OP

I have the exact same problem on my 15. Idk why its happening. Everytime I try to get it fixed they tell me i need to go their body shop and to make an appointment, they never get back to me. Hope your process is easier!

They should not be charging you anything!! "Diagnostic fee" my arse!!
The car is covered under warranty!!
That type of separation cannot be a "normal defect"
Automobile suspensions are designed support the body and absorb the the impact of driving over potholes.
If the bumper and related hardware were of proper integrity, within specification and installed correctly, that kind of damage would not result from driving over a pot hole.
I'm really p..... off because I believe you are being railroaded by the dealer.
Do not give in!!

My bumper also popped out exactly like lok-red posted above. I popped it back in and it's held for quite some time now, but my bumper is also farther away from the headlight on the driver's side than the passenger side. I remember when I first saw it, I thought it was in some sort of impact, but I couldn't find any signs of an impact.

This car has some many panel alignment issues, mine does, but that's just plain busted and this diagnostic fee...holy crap.

The bumper popping out is not "normal", it's very clear that the clips are not engaged, resulting in the bumper cover separating.

That being said, I have never seen any vehicle with that condition that was not the result of the bumper cover bottoming out on something. And before anyone gets defensive, it's not hard to scrape the bumper when entering a driveway or parking lot with these cars, especially the GTs. It happens. However, if the dealer finds that the bottom of the bumper cover/air dam is scraped up, don't expect it to be a covered repair.

Can't believe every car on their lot looks like this. I went to many dealers & walked their lots & never saw 1 car that had the bumper pulling away like that. Many (including mine) had panel misalignment's, but nothing like whats in your pics.

Yes it took me three trips to the dealer about two weeks of my car sitting there to get it finally covered under warranty, good luck you just have to keep on them.

The SA wanted to make sure there was no curb damage but putting the car on the lift and check carefully and if any kind of impact, scratches or damage is found, they would have charged the diagnosing fee of 129.

Touchwood there was not even a hairline scratch or any kind of impact. SA confirmed it to be a warranty issue, took few pics on the same day (03-02-2016) and sent it to Ford for authorization.

Last week Ford responded saying it needs more clear pictures, scheduled an appointment with the SA to take the pictures again, this time the car was put on lift and a good number of pictures were taken in all angles and also from the bottom just to make sure no curb damage. couple of pictures were taken by putting a pen near the edge where the bumper got off from the fender.

It's been a week since the 2nd set of pics were sent to ford, wondering why it would take so long to respond.

Hoping to get it sorted out...

Update:

Ford approved the warranty claim as they determined it to be some defect in assembly rather than a material defect.

Spoke to the SA if they were going to get a new bumper cover, but he said no and is going to fix the existing bumper, the tabs/clips must have bee misaligned or broken, they are gonna get new tabs fixed to the bumper and put it back onto the fender.

I was just wondering how can they do that, as you all know the tabs are part of the bumper cover when it was molded during manufacturing. My biggest concern is that they wont do some kind of plastic weld the broken/misaligned tabs to the bumper which would be a half half shady job.
