I’m assuming this was a “in the middle of working on it” photo and that your center pin and locating pins are properly installed…
YES!! That looks pretty dangerous doesn't it. Between street and track use those pads have been in and out so many times I can do it in my sleep. Stupid though that I neglected to note the metal wear indicator on the front pad, it's even visible on picture #1 or two of this first posting.

Great tips BTW to everyone, certainly worth a try.

gotcha. Yeah, I'm in the same boat as you. I change my rotors and pads before and after every track event so they are off a lot. Because I have to remove the calipers to change the rotors, I never remove the center pin and just slide the pads in and out from the bottom.

Otherwise, like what's already been reported, making sure your wear indicator is on the outside will prevent it from binding/touching the caliper housing if it's in the inner position.
