I have a pretty annoying front passenger-side brake pad rattle. Stock Front pads (6-piston Brembo), and not even close to 50% worn. Worst at about 30 mph and slower. I change my brake pads a lot as this is a dual purpose track-street car. Even my track pads don't rattle this bad.
It's not the rears as if I'm coasting and put on the handbrake, there's no change. Applying any small amount of brake pressure eliminates the pad rattle.
When I remove the pin, bridge bolt and spring it feels like it's the outside pad has it has just a little bit of play and the inside pad is firm with no play.
Any ideas as to how to fix?

Not sure how this makes any sense. But re-assembled with some Sil-Glide silicone paste on the back side of the pads, just a small amount, where the pistons contact. It's vastly improved. Not a complete cure but at least 80% better. Hey if it helps, can't complain.

I had noisy front pads particularly lateral shifting on directional transition disassembled, cleaned, lubed baking plates incl perimeter touching caliper and like new.

Probably because I spray wheel cleaner on the calipers at wand wash.

If you have pad rattle, there’s a high chance that the pad with the wear indicator was installed on the inside instead of being installed on the outside. If the pad with the wear indicator is installed on the inside, it’s going to bang against the mounting flange of the caliper, and make metal on metal rattling sound driving on rough roads. I just had to correct mine earlier. Hope this helps

Interesting. I just removed the pads today to install track pads. On the rear pads there's clearly a metal tab on the inside brake pad, but I don't remember any metal tab on the front pads. It would make sense there's a low pad warning metal tab but I don't remember seeing anything. I'm going to look at them again tomorrow AM.

Are there still suppose to be metal shims between the brake pad and the caliper? Mine was making the same noise that went away when I slightly hit the brakes and they were missing them. Installed them on the refresh...was on my 14 GT500 however..Brembos.

No metal shiims, but the stock pads have some sort of woven insulated material on the caliper side that probably is supposed to reduce noise and rattle.

Do you hear it more in a low speed turn and its quiet when going straight?

Is it a regular click click clicking or some kind of irregular rattle?

Mine is a low speed, say below 30 mph, irregular rattle. Sounds like the pads are loose and rattling in the caliper. Goes away with the lightest touch of the brakes.

In a turn or straight?

Predominately straight, still rattles a bit in corners but seems to be just slightly less.

Okay, I stand corrected. You are right there is a little metal tab one side of each front pair.
When they go back in will put tab on the outside.

I have couple of more tips, since I've also wrestled with pad rattles ever since I put the bullitt brakes on my car.
1- The anti-rattle springs, they seem to be one or two time use only as they lose their shape and tension - (Best practice would be to install the first time and not take them on and off too many times)
2- Use a proper brake lubricant, it helps to keep the pads from rattling around the caliper and smooth out the movement of the pads. I used this one.

I installed Brembo's ceramic pads, however it looks like the shims on the back side of the ceramic ones from Brembo to be thinner than Ford's originals without that rubberized coating too. So overall, with some tolerance stackings, it can result in the pad rattle issue.

This is what I did which seems to did the trick for the time being. I Took out the pads, cleaned all previous Brembo grease off the back side, applied the new grease on both sides of the shim and installed the shims on the pads. Added a thin layer of new grease to the edges of the pads where it nestles in the calipers and put everything back with a brand new anti rattle spring.

Hope it helps
