I am sure this is a shot in the dark, but I recently found this yellow clip on the passenger side floorboard and have no idea where it came from. The only thing I've taken apart is the interior fuse panel cover and the overhead map light housing (major PITA) and they're not from that.

Any ideas?

Excuse my dirt, I need to clean the center console, apparently.

They are used to retain a bunch of plastic trim panels
For whatever reason they come in different colors
Yellow, blue, red, white, etc

Probably a "spare" that fell into the dash on the assembly line.

These look like the clips that hold the silver dash trim with the vents on. Perhaps if you took off that panel, you would find one spot has a clip missing.

I think these panels come pre-assembled and with the clips on the nubs, so the line worker just inserts it. I would bet they do not have a tray with spare clips laying around to lose in the dashes of new cars.

Attached is a pic of the defroster trim piece from my car that I removed, it has these same yellow clips on it as well.

Thank you, and this is the location of one of many annoying random rattles. I am betting this is it. I will check that later this evening. It just pulls straight up, with only these yellow clips holding it in?

Oh god no.

You have to remove the A-pillar covers, remove the silver dash panel that goes around the middle A/C vents, remove the panel on top of the dash just behind that that covers the center speaker, and then you can get at this defroster trim piece.

Re-inserting the defroster trim piece caused the biggest lump in my throat/I dun goofed moment because you really have to finagle it back in there - space is tight.

Mine rattled like a bitch on a hot day and you turned the A/C on after it sat in the sun. Really awful rattling, had a '19 just before this and no rattling there.

When I took it apart everything looked fine, I added felt tape to all the edges and re-installed and it fixed the issue. I even saw a photo of the same piece from the factory, and it looked just like mine. So I never figured out the WHY.

Also the A-pillar covers totally suck to put back on, you have to get this little tab to slot in to the trim defroster piece and they just don't want to do that, they want to bend and break and I am on my 2nd A-pillar cover and it also now has a broken tab.

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuu... Looks like I will throw this clip in the glovebox and ignore this rattle - it is one of many anyhow.
