It’s kind of hard to consider a lot of this racing with all the engineered in nonsense. The tire stuff gets real old.
Hello; one telling thing was the Alonzo backup. Alonzo changed tire on lap 7 along with everyone else except the McLarens. So, he had to, along with most of the others, baby the tires so they would hold up the next 25 laps. Then he and all but the McLarens had to make the last set of tires last the final 25 laps. 7 + 25 +25 = 57 laps.
Had the safety car happened on some different lap than lap 7 the race would have played out to some other equation based on 25 laps.

I have come around to pulling for Max in the championship. At first it was refreshing to see the McLarens doing well. Now I cannot avoid acknowledging the sheer talent it takes to drive a mid-pack car to the front of the races. I do not know that Tsunoda is such a poor driver in terms of hustling his version of the RB.
What is normal over time is for the team cars to finish close to each other most of the time. The McLarens illustrate this fairly well. I do not know why RB kept Tsunoda so long. A guess being they realize any replacement would not run up front in the car.

There are at least two ironies this year. One being the RB #2 drivers failures this year after getting rid last years #2 driver who in hindsight was doing well enough. He (I believe it was Perez) could not best Max but was not all that far behind.

The other irony of course being the hubris of LH. Maybe should call it the entitled attitude. He had a good seat in the MB and threw it away to get into a Ferrari. Lately he is not even getting out of Q1 and the guy in his former MB seat is doing well.
An aside to this has been the race announcers who kept attempting to laud LH this year as they had done for so many seasons. It was annoying during LH's last seasons with MB but became comical as this current season unfolded in the Ferrari.
To be fair some of the blame lands on Ferrari but a real measure is how often Leclerc has bested him in races & qualifying. Much like for RB whose mfg placement depends on Max, Ferraris mfg placement rests with Leclerc.

One more race. Will the McLarens pull it together? Will Max pull off an astonishing comeback? Will the championship be decided by stewards actions? Will there be a first corner crash which takes out one or more contenders?

I'll take this over USA 2005 any day.

You got me, have no idea what USA 2005 is.
Hello; May be the Indy F1 race where over half the teams could not race. There were two tire brands at the time. One tire brand did not work & there were crashes in practice. The tire company offered to fly in suitable tires. Ferrari & Shumaker dug up a rule which did not allow that. So, the race was run with no competitors for Ferrari. It was disgusting to see MS celebrating at the end.

Only 6 cars started because one brand of tire couldn't handle the last turn of Indy road course. The rest had to take the warm up lap to avoid fines for not taking the grid but pulled into pits before the "green".

I remember that. Thought that may have been what was being alluded to, but wasn’t sure. Goes to show how far back the shxt show is with tires. And it’s not because the manufacturers can’t produce high quality rubber.

Yuki is a talented driver but he does not and never did belong in F1.

That's harsh when you see others like Lance Stroll in cars on the grid. I hope the reset of regs will give Hadjar a chance with the RB, certainly he's so new he's still learning the car so hopefully not 'set in his ways' like many established drivers are.

I'd like to see how good the Racing Bull would have been with Max in it this year!, he might have won his 5th title already haha

Agreed. There are a lot of drivers that never "belonged" in F1. But that's hardly the point.

Well, obviously Stroll doesn't belong in F1 either.

That doesn't change my opinion about Yuki, despite him being exponentially better than Stroll, who has only recently been rivaled by Mazepin as the worst driver on the grid.

There’s no comparison between Mazepin and Stroll, not on any level. As for Tsunoda. What’s escaped him for whatever reason is his lack of maturity. He’s simply refused to observe and emulate his fellow drivers where professionalism plays out for whatever reason. I always get a kick out of the haters on Stroll because of who his father is. Where the season is now the only teams that aren’t simply trying to get to the end is Redbull(Max), McLaren, and Merc to a degree. Most of the teams have been doing this for most of the season anticipating and developing for the new regs. Unfortunately it is what is.

Of course there is. They both are good at wrecking and generally doing stupid stuff behind the wheel.

Stroll wouldn't have a ride if his dad didn't own the team. Just the same as Mazepin(I am aware that dad didn't own Haas, tomato tomato).

I agree with you about Yuki and professionalism. I think part of it is his personality and also there's some immaturity there. I also believe he is a bit lazy.
