Can’t speak for others but Apple tv comes as a perk for our cell service with TMobile. If it didn’t don’t know that I’d pay for it as a stand alone.

https://www.cnbc.com/2025/10/17/apple-f1-media-deal-streaming.html

Apple TV has won the rights to broadcast F1 races from 2026-2030. All viewers will need an AppleTV subscription ($12.99 per month) to watch.

"Apple TV will provide coverage of all Formula 1events, including practice, qualifying and Sprint sessions, as part of the streamer’s existing $12.99 per month subscription, which comes ad-free. Certain F1 races and all practice sessions will also be available for free in the Apple TV app throughout the season, the companies said in a statement.

F1 TV Premium, the league’s own content offering that’s popular with racing fans, will continue to be available in the U.S. but will now require an Apple TV subscription. Once a customer subscribes to Apple TV, F1 TV Premium will be included in their Apple subscription rather than as a standalone offering."

Spoiler Alert: streaming is turning into what cable TV used to be.

Same here Charlie. I wouldn’t otherwise pay for it, although I suppose we’re “paying” for it through our TMobile rate.

I’m sure we are. Use to use ATT which was way higher in cost and where we are the service was lacking(coverage). I’d rather support Apple then Espn and Disney to be honewt, but realize probably splitting hairs there.

Hello; ESPN switched all of their coverage to a channel I do not get. I did get to watch the race on a local Knoxville TN channel.
To the race. First thing is now Max fans have an officials action upon which to blame many future woes. They can say such as "Max had his title stolen" and the like. Knowing of the skills Max has it is conceivable he could have had 2nd place. But the reality remains he did not make the pass in the last three or so corners.

Some teams had a best of the season race.

I do not see the #2 RB having the same driver next season.

I would not want to live in Mexico City.

While YouTube TV and Disney fight, no ESPN (Formula one).

I think Disney is looking at Congress and saying hold my bear. Probably not going to resolve before Brazil FP1 tomorrow.

Guess I need to sign up for 1 month of F1 Live ($10.xx) or the even cheaper option if I can find out how soon replays are available, or see about a free trial of some streaming service that has ESPN. sigh.

Hello; this likely will not be worth knowing, but ROKU streaming carries an F1 channel. problem is the races are a delayed rebroadcast of about a week. Usually the following Friday.

People have been finding ways to backdoor their way into ESPN through Disney+ if you have that. Not everything is available but some live content has been found. I’m going to try it this weekend if it’s not resolved, I can’t stand missing a bunch of college football games

Going with the $10.9x per month option for F1 Roku F1 app. Will subscribed tomorrow at midnight so one month covers the rest of the season by a few hours in case Disney does try to outlast the govt shutdown.

Since the F1 app option in the US goes away next year (becomes just a possibly free add on to Disney+ or ESPN forgot which), I may go without F1 for the first time in many many years or use VPN to subscribe outside of US. Not sure I could pull that off and get it to the big screen without more hassle than worth. I have zero use of anything Disney or ESPN other than F1, so won't subscribe on principle.

Hello; As is my normal i set the DVR to record the race today. Went about some chores including loading and hauling off a truckload of rock and dirt. First clue something was wrong is when there were two F1 recordings rather than the usual one. Watched the first one which ended at the start of lap 71. Went to the second recording which started some minutes after the race was over, right before the program ended. I had set the DVR to run an hour and 1/2 extra in case of a red flag.

I know Max wound up in 3rd so he did not make the pass. I have the DVR set to record a rebroadcast this evening and will skip to that last lap.

I know there have been funny business all week with programing and some of us having to scramble for a broadcast. Though I was set. Very good race anyway.

I probably should not dig at LH so will just say bad luck.

Cracking drive from Max, got a little lucky with the safety car giving him a short stop but also unlucky he needed to stop after a suspected puncture but also lucky to get rid of the god awful hard tires that were shit. Oscar unlucky, but there had to be a serious penalty, he wiped out poor Charles. Lewis was shit in the main GP qualifying and race. Every time he looks like he’s taken a step forward he stumbles back again. Can’t see anyone taking up the guy at the end of his Ferrari contract. Also feel very sorry for Gabi. Congrats to Kimi!

Hello; Based on current performance I tend to agree. Based on his loyal following not so clear cut. He has big name recognition beyond his current displayed abilities.
I note that the talking heads (race announcers) are very quick to laude praise onto him anytime he does something well. For his fans such morphs into less hearty excuses fairly quickly anymore.

Ferrari bosses have traditionally treated drivers as replaceable parts regardless of the past pedigree. Little, if any, idol worship among them. They very correctly want to win races. Had LH been besting his co-team driver might be a different story.

Hello; There seems to be point where a young driver either steps up to the next level of performance beyond merely being quick. He is approaching being a fine replacement in the second seat. Maybe #1 driver soon???

Hello; this likely will not be worth knowing, but ROKU streaming carries an F1 channel. problem is the races are a delayed rebroadcast of about a week. Usually the following Friday.
Samsung TV Plus (Samsung's own free streaming service on their smart TVs) also has the F1 channel. It shows races including practice, qualifying, pre and post-race shows a week later-usually Friday, definitely Saturday as well. There are ads, but they aren't long and at least you hear the F1 TV's racing intro sound when the program returns.
The hard part is dodging spoilers all week, lol. My friends at C&C are good enough to wait to discuss the qualifying and race if I didn't catch it by Saturday morning.
I used to have the F1 app, but it stopped working when they upgraded their systems requiring the newest top range Firestick. Now it's going to Apple and as has been said, streaming services are starting to act like cable, so I'll get it a week late. ABC broadcasts the US races, the Mexico race and IIRC, the Monaco one. (though that is more of a fast parade, lol)

Hello; Did some checking the last few days. Called my fiber optic internet provider. They provide my internet & telephone service currently. They offer some TV packages. Requires a top tier ROKU box which i bought. The TV package for $82 has two ESPN channels currently.
During the conversation I asked about recording programs. The fiber cable allows cloud storage of up to 30 hours of programs but only keeps them seven days. This would work for F1 races as I watch them as soon as possible. Would not work for football games as I normally wind up behind the NFL games by a week and more. Plus is way more than 30 hours with movies and other stuff.

To my question. Is there a DVR (digital video recorder) or something like such i can buy to record off of such as ROKU? I checked online at BEST BUY but am not sure they sell such a thing. I still have a couple of the old DVD recorders with which I did record onto the DVD disks. A thing is there is not a way to plug an HDMI cable into them.

I do have a Direct TV DVR which came with the Hi definition dish package. It works fine nd holds lots of movies, games & races for as long as i want. Problem being the cost. I now pay $127/ month with a $25 discount. Would be $152 without the discount which expires in two months. I may get a new discount when I call and ask.
