Well I guess we know who was sandbagging this time.
At least Lewis is after Charles which means he’s getting used to the car more. Compared to Liam who’s had more time to drive the car and is nowhere close to Max.
Williams definitely look like they can make it a 5 team battle up front. Good job Vowles.

Apparently Ferrari ran a wet setup for qualifying which would explain their lack of pace. Smart move since it’s a wet race and you can’t touch the car after qualifying. Hopefully this gives them better results. Also hopefully it’s not a shit show with the rookies.

Hello; Do not know if Ferrari used a wet setup. If so such did not help them much. Afraid I sat up and watched the race till the small hours of the morning. It was interesting but not indicative of how the teams will sort out I suspect.
Most everybody made mistakes on the track and in strategy. Still the McLarens showed to be the cream of the crop.
Some rookies spun out first but veterans, including my favored Alonzo, did so as well. Too early to pass judgment but a black mark on the two rookies.
Max did Max and brought a somewhat lesser car in second place. The RB must be a very difficult car to drive for anyone other than Max.
I will leave most of the comments about Lewis to he did finish ahead of four cars which were still running at the end. He was passed in the last laps.
Leclerc did well.
Maybe a dry race will sort things out better?

Yup, that was a shit show. McLarens are the dominant car for both drivers unlike Red Bull. Once Max’s inters wore out, the McLarens had like a 15 second gap before the safety car came out again. A very expensive race for the teams that crashed out.

I thought I recorded it last night but didn’t. Tried to watch it at 3:00PM but all I got was a basketball game (thanks ESPN). Said the hell with it and looked at the results. Lewis P10. Glad I didn’t watch. But that said congrats to Alex and Kimi. Great drives. Also love to Anthony Lewis. What he did for Isack Hadjar was amazing.

Hello; ESPN varied the coverage last week among their different channels. I only have two ESPN channels thru Direct TV. I had set the practices to record but only saw one. One was on a channel I do not get. Same for the race replay. A strong storm was hitting about the time the race started so i decided to record a later replay. The two replays were on channels I do not get. Got lucky as the storm petered out some by race time so i got to se all of it.
I made a point to check next weeks F1 race and am lucky the practices, qualifying & race are on the two ESPN channels Direct TV carries in my package, I think.

I wanted to record the Sebring 12 hour race but found it was only on a Peacock streaming ____ (app ?). Same thing happened last summer for the Tour De France & one year for the 24 hours of LeMans. I follow the strategy. Put popular programs onto the channels we have to pay extra for. Back to F!. Seems you can sign in and pay for the F1 app of some sort and get all the race broadcasts. I declined.

This is exactly why I have F1TV. A few years ago, TSN (Canadian sports network), wasn’t showing a F1 race coverage on their 5 channels. Yet TSN thought it would be great to have the same tennis match on 2 channels. I think there’s a 7 day trial for F1TV premium. I have the PRO and don’t mind paying for it as I can watch whenever I want and rewatch old races.

Hello; Had to do a search to be sure who Anthony Hamilton is. Nice gesture to be sure.

I do not know what long-term effects crying on TV will have on the rookie driver's career. First time of my seeing or knowing of him. Guess wrecking on that particular day does not stand out as he wound up with plenty of company before it was all over, including the most experienced driver, Alonzo.

I’ll admit, even I started to tear up when I had seen this. Really shows the type of person Anthony is and then you have Helmut who said it was embarrassing. Like seriously, can someone shut him up permanently? That’s your driver and all you’re doing is bringing him down.

If there was ever a reason to dislike a race team Helmut Marko is it. I really have no issue with Max or even Christian. That said, I could never root for this team. He is truly a disgraceful human being.

That was a big time class act by Hamilton’s Dad. Major kudo’s! Got me to. Gives me faith that there’s still some with great values. Completely agree on Marko, have NO idea what that guy actually offers to the Team in any type of positive manner. He reminds of Old man Ford in the airprort scene in Ford vs Ferarri.

I don't care what women of the "strong, independent" type, educated at the corporate diversity-and-inclusion school, may say. A man crying in public is a disgrace. Period.
You wrecked the car? Tough luck. Get out of it, own up to your mistake and move on. Crying like a baby is pathetic. But yeah, it will earn you the love of tough, "modern" women, who adore men who can "express their feelings". Yuck... :puke:
I guess I was raised in a different world, where men used to be men.

If believing this, and daring say it in public, makes me a disgraceful human being, so be it. I can live with that.

Hello; I was raised under the same philosophy as you. Men were not to cry in public. Children and boys could do so, but not men. I did not have to wonder if it made sense back in the day as such was universally accepted.
Now there are changed attitudes among many making such acceptable. I will need to think about the ramifications of the new thinking as it does not seem to be something without negative impacts. The crying incident will follow this man for some time to come.
One example being how the TV cameras focused on the incident. I imagine some TV directors instinctively recognized immediately it was something to play up for the small screen. Small screen drama not meant to be sympathetic with the young man. Indicates to me an understanding of how a general social norm was broken. A man driving a F1 car should not be seen crying like a boy.
Back to how I was raised for a moment. While I can understand why the lad was upset with himself for wrecking on a warmup lap, I also found the crying a wrong reaction for someone entering the top tier of formula racing. Guess that makes me land on the same side as Vlad.
