Still think Hamilton doesn’t care about the points? Wolf made sure to call off Bottas on the fastest lap. With the way Verstappen looked today, it’ll take a lot more on Merc’s part. It’ll be interesting to see where Verstappen’s pace is next race. Hamilton finally acknowledged the pace late in the race, but I think he knows Verstappen wasn‘t all in.
Exactly. Toto admitted there was an issue with the Merc’s at turn 3. It was costing them a tenth a lap. The next two tracks favor Mercedes. After that who knows. I enjoy the battle even if my favorite driver doesn’t win.

But we all know that this coming weekend is all about GR!! 👍

And Bottas is going to Alfa. That means there’s a vacant seat at Merc. My bets are Latifi is going to Merc :cwl:

Obviously it’s going to be Russell but could you imagine if it was Vettel? That would be crazy. But my thoughts are Russell is like the next Hamilton. He proves himself time and again. Hamilton and Russell next year will be like Alonso and Hamilton when they were both with McLaren, two crazy good drivers on the same team.

The other big story is Albon. Will he go to Williams? I certainly hope so, he deserves another shot.

I was watching that interview with Horner and Wolff talking about Albon. Horner said Albon deserved to be in F1 and I’m thinking to myself, weren’t you the one that booted him out of F1? :cwl: :giggle:

Never any doubt that Hamilton cares about points. He's like any athlete--competitive. Merc made the call to change tires for the last lap and hold back Bottas so Hamilton could get the point. Makes sense in that he is has a better chance than Bottas to get the individual win to go with their likely team team win. In that sense, from the standpoint of tactics, F1 is similar to cycling (Tour de France in particular). Everyone sacrifices for the strongest rider.

Merc also took a risk when they put him on mediums. I respect them for being bold, even if the call was ultimately questionable.

That takes nothing away from Verstappen. He earned everything he got--pole and P1. In addition to his skill at 23 years old, he had the extra motivation of being (kinda) at home.

As Hamilton noted afterwards, if Merc is to beat Red Bull this year, the whole team is going to have to step up their game, him included. Hopefully, it'll come down to the wire to make the season as interesting as possible.

What was most impressive to me was that 98% of the fans present rode bikes to the race--2% drove--in typical Dutch fashion.

The bicycle parking lots were pretty impressive.

Yeah, underground bike garages and morning bike traffic jams are a thing throughout the country. Women dressed to kill riding Dorthy and Toto bikes to work is as well. Interesting place...

Talk about a different culture then here In the US. Not gonna lie, there’s A LOT of people in the US that could benefit from riding to work.

Confirmed. Russell to Merc. Soooooo, what’s Verstappen gonna do next year when he has to contend with two Mercs. Assuming that the teams have fast cars. Who knows, maybe Haas will have the fastest car :cwl:

Guess he didn’t want to deal with Red Bull anymore.

Don’t kid yourself. He took possibly the last and only opportunity to present itself to go back in to F1 full time. It had nothing to do with Redbull and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. He simply took the opportunity that was available to him. Hope it works out.

Well it’s not really up to him to take the spot. That’s Williams giving him the opportunity to be in F1. At least he won’t have to worry about the team dropping him halfway through the season.

It’s not up to him to take the spot? Ok. To say he struggled at Redbull is an understatement. If the situation was the same and he was at Ferarri, Merc, they would have done the same. He pretty much imploded for whatever reason. Gasly fell in the same boat. Gasly is doing very well for Alpha, hopefully for Albon it will turn around as well for him.
