Most enthusiasts will want an EB over the V6. Period. Your average buyer will still likely buy a regular V6 just because it's a Mustang...

I love my Ecoboost. I don't need to wind it out. It's a pleasure to drive and there is a ton of room under the hood, plus the potential already being unleashed is great.

I'm not sure I agree with your assessment. While I do think the potential to mod the EB will bring a lot of import buyers into the fold, I think the only thing that would keep enthusiasts away from the V6 right now is lack of options.

Haven driven all three models now, I'd take the GT, then the V6. Am I an enthusiast? Yes, my current Mini Cooper S is highly modded (255 bhp) and I track the car. I just like the power delivery and the sound better on the V6. Nothing against the EB , but for ME , not my choice.

No doubt the EB has more aftermarket potential and better options to start. Ford really did make a mistake by placing limits on the 3.7L but I wasn't that interested in most of the add-ons anyway due to the additional cost. Reason being that I'd rather build the car how I want, on my time, as if it were an ongoing project. I'm sure most change out some of the add-ons eventually anyway.

I believe that anyone that has any intention to modify or customize their vehicle is an "enthusiast" in their own way regardless of how many cylinders are in their engine. Other than GT buyers and up, it is unreasonable to lump everyone into a category because I'm sure there are many EB buyers with no plans for modifications as well.

I completely agree - the 3.7L is a great if not excellent starting point for me given the benefits over the EB.

If it wasn't for CAFE, we wouldn't be seeing the downsizing and turbocharging of motors without any real world benefits.

I love my manuel v6. This is coming from a guy with a fully built fox with 532hp, big breaks, cage and full MM suspension. This car is flat out fun to drive no complaints on my end

In 2025, the EB will be the base and Ford will only sell it stripped like today's V6 in the hopes of getting buyers to upgrade into the hydrogen powered turbo 4.

I pretty much agree that the lack of options on the V6 is not a good move on Ford's part.

But I understand it. And this is why:

Going off Canadian prices here.

The base V6, manual tranny, without any bells and whistles, is marked at $25K. The base Ecoboost, manual tranny, without any bells and whistles, is marked at $28K. In terms of features, these two cars are almost identical in every way except the engine.

So you're essentially paying $3,000 to go from a V6 to an Ecoboost.

The Ecoboost premium costs about $33,500.

$33,500 - $28,000 = $5,500

Now let's look at GT ($42,500) vs. GT Premium ($5,500):

$42,500 - $37,000 = $5,500

So we can agree that the cost of "Premium" features is $5,500. Meaning a V6 Premium would cost something around $30,500.

To me, if I was given an option of V6 Premium for $30,500, I wouldn't pause to even remotely consider the Ecoboost. And I wouldn't understand why anyone else would. Sure, it might have a better MPG, but beyond that, the V6 and Ecoboost are almost identical with a $3,000 price gap, with V6 being the cheaper one. So you'd get more bang for your buck with the V6.

If there was a V6 Premium, I think no one would bother with Ecoboost; and Ford realized this too.

But if there was demand for it, which there seems to be, I wouldn't be surprised if a V6 Premium is offered in future models.

For now, I'll stick with the base V6 and save money for mods or my eventual GT. ;)

A local installer quoted $1100 for leather, or $1600 for heated leather (front only). I'm doing it. Probably not this year, but maybe next. I've heard nothing but good things about this company.

I'm thinking of going with them as well, I've worked at car dealerships and I've seen Katzskin seats installed with heat and they look great. They last as well since a friend of mine had seats done on his 10 fusion which he still uses and they look pretty much the same as you'd expect.

I'm thinking as far as the interior goes I would've liked to see the toggle switches, snow mode, and Sat radio offered standard across the line. I would've also liked if they offered 9 speakers on the base stereo as well. The leather I'll do myself from Katzskin when I get the money. I do like that it's cheaper so it's affordable for me but I don't think what I'm asking would make the car more expensive. Especially since it's in the rest of the line up. My car is coming soon- already printed out my window sticker! So I'm very happy and excited!

Lets see what Fords does with the 2016 model regarding the V6. Maybe, hopefully they've listened to all of the comments and might offer a premium package at that point. Time will tell,,,.
