How do you figure? Mustang V6 with 051A package and 3.55 gears is $ 26,015. An equally equipped Mustang GT with 3.55 gears is $$33,520. A Procharger supercharger runs $5500. That's only $2005 cheaper before install.....
That's part of the reason why I traded in my 14. I seriously considered getting a procharger on mine but it just made more sense to upgrade instead. I would have had to swap out the two piece driveshaft as well, and I would have had it installed at a shop. Also would have kissed the drivetrain warranty goodbye for the most part.

I live in Canada where the V6 starts at $26699 (I paid it nearly $25000 with employee pricing and costco rebates) and the GT starts at $38699. That's a $12000 difference (over $13000 in my case) !!! Go check it out at Ford.ca. I can get the procharger kit for around $6000 and it takes 8-10 to install at $75 per hour (that's around $750 for install). So for $25000 + $6750 that's $31750 for a supercharged V6 that kicks a GT ass easy. A V6 with a procharger can do 11s on the quarter mile. GTs stock do 13s. Not even in the same league.

Is there anything else (i.e. drive shafts) that need to be replaced on the v6 when adding on a procharger? Just curious - sometimes throwing on a supercharger or w/e doesnt just mean that part. Then you have to account for a tune, CAI (probably not a need). So the parts list starts to get bigger and more expensive.

Of course, that much power in a v6... its hard to put a price on joy.

No need for anything else. The kit runs on modest boost, it's made to run on the stock engine with no danger. I comes with a tune for a bolt on install. You can add tons of stuff if you want more but it's not necessary to make 400whp easy.

You obviously don't even know the engine specs on the EB... it's 320TQ..V6 is 280TQ. 40lbs is a fairly substantial difference.

Can you people fuck off already?

20ft lb of wheel torque in a 3500lb car is mostly placebo if you claim you feel much of a difference.

Thank you.

But there is the mistake we customers make. I did look for the V6 and got pushed over to the EcoBoost because the V6 has no upgrades. I did get aftermarket leather on my 2005 convertible but I thought I like it when it comes direct from the factory with it. Take only the price of the leather plus heating you are already at $1,600. No leather inserts on the doors. No drive modes. No navigation etc. (I think) So Ford is knowingly giving us no choice than getting the EcoBoost.

I agree, eliminating the V6 Premium package for the purpose of maneuvering buyers to the EcoBoost backfired...big time...it put me on pause; i'm waiting to see what the 2016 version will offer...The EcoBoost should be the entry level choice...i have a 2012 V6 Premium, and i can't imagine going without my siriusXM!

Just finished test driving Mustangs yesterday and right now I completely agree. I drove the GT, EB and V6 (A6). I loved the GT, was a bit underwhelmed by the EB, but really liked the V6. They had a nice V6 conv that was just was I was looking for if it had the premium package. At this point I'm waiting to see what the 2016 offerings are before I lay down my hard earned cash...

Have you looked at the dyno for both? Because I have.

I don't know if you realize but you're like the ecoboost Jehovah's witness in this section of the forum.
First question i have for you how old are you? The way you curse at people on this forum is insane!! You get so offended so quick. Do you have v6 buyers remorse or something? Or did mommy and daddy buy it? So these dyno sheets you keep talking about were you there in person? And both the Eco and v6 were ran back to back on the same dyno? Im guessing not! Your probably talking about dyno sheets that were posted online buy a 3 party tuner ,ran on different dynos on different days , different temps ect..ect. Im guessing the folks at FORD know how to dyno there own cars that they made. 40lbs of torque stock is a big difference! Then there's the ability to mod them for big power gains on the cheap but funny how you have stated in the past that you dont care about tunes but you turn around and throw dyno numbers up at people.. Simple tune easy extra 100 lbs or more of torque for cheap on the Ecoboost and thats not even getting into bolt ons. As said before stock for stock both are great cars.. But anybody that knows Turbo 4's that came from cars like WRX's ,STI's,EVO'S ect.. Knows what a tune and a few bolt ons can turn them into! FORD's Ecoboost engine actually comes from the factory more powerful then those well known engines.. These Turbo 4's dont need a $8k supercharger to gain alot more power like an N/A engine does.. But this dont matter to you tho right? You didnt buy your car for that right? You just bought it to be seen in right?.. but you will throw 3rd party dyno sheets at people on the forum and CURSE at them over stock torque numbers??? Go get a life kid!

I dn't mean to break up a good fight, ZMAN, but what tune are you referring to for 100 lbs w/o bolt-ons? (I got to get me one of those!)

Unleashed Tune got 417 torque to the Wheels thats about what 140 lbs torque tune only!!.. Livernois is right there with 87 lbs tq to 100 lbs tq peak with there tune. FORD Racing got 90 lbs torque from there 2.0 Focus Ecoboost Tune with a warranty and im guessing the 2.3 Mustang Ecoboost tune from FORD will be higher then that! Just to name a few..

1. Cobb, Bama, Livernois, Unleashed, MAP, etc. are all making big numbers with nothing but a tune. FFTEC is putting up ridiculous numbers with a medium sized bolt on turbo. The EB aftermarket has exploded and will continue to grow.

2. Saying a tune voids your warranty is a blanket statement and technically not true. Most reputable tuners will do nothing to harm your car or give your service department reason to blame the tune for a failure. Plus I never use a dealer unless it is absolute last resort.

I decided to rent a 2015 Mustang to see how it was to live with in real life vs a 10 minute test drive. I get what Ford is trying trying to do with it's EB engine, but what Ford has done marketing wise with the V6 is both a shame and a mistake. Keeping in mind that the vast majority of buyers won't mod their cars, the V6 is much more pleasurable to drive than the EB. Throttle response is instant where the EB has a slight lag, particularly from a stop. Power is linear, building all the way to redline vs the EB which runs out of steam above 5k rpm. Then there is the sound. EB would sound fine in a hot hatch or even a theoretical Fusion ST, but it just doesn't fit the Mustang's muscle car roots. This V6 sounds fantastic! The exhaust is pretty quiet though, so I'd recommend at least headers or an exhaust to spice things up. Taking the car on a mix of very twisty back roads and city streets and interstate, I can say that this car has a great ride/handling balance with the stock suspension. The only negative i could think of is that the long hood, while looking bad ass while driving straight, is a bit of a hindrance when going over a hill with a blind turn. In my Mini Copper, the visibility for tight, twisty, hilly roads is so much better. Also noticed that long hood while parking between cars. That being said, turning circle is surprisingly tight!

So all in all, love the car! BUT, I probably won't be getting one because even the kids felt tight in the back but mostly because the car won't fit in our small garage:(. I can drive it in, I just can't open the door. I considered leaving it outside, but I'm really spoiled not having to warm up and defrost my car in the winter, plus my Mini has been vandalized a couple times when I've left it outside.

I'll probably end up with another hatchback. Such are the compromises one makes in life. I'll live vicariously through you guys, so post lots of pics!

If you can be patient. Get the Ford Focus RS. Worth every penny! Plus AWD!!
