Some of us are getting forgetful :headbonk:

Point is, so easy to add to 10 other gauge choices, why not!!! I don't get it especially since all competitors offer it and an HUD!!!

I'm a bit surprised that this feature isn't available. I don't really use it on the many rental cars I drive, but I can see how some people would like it. In some cars the steering wheel interferes with my view of the speedo needle.

It shouldn't be that difficult of a feature for Ford to implement. The car's computer already knows the speed, for sure. It's a simple calculation, and obviously the speedometer is electronic and reports mph. The accident recording thing even specifically states that it records vehicle speed, steering wheel position, throttle / brake position, etc.

My old 1993 Ford F-150 even knew the vehicle speed. I can't remember exactly how, but you could enter a diagnostic mode on the tiny digital odometer trip meter. It could be set to display vehicle speed.

Cheers!

BTW, gear position is a good and idea and would be cool for automatic equipped cars....

Until Ford adds such a feature your MyKey options are:

1. configure a speed warning:

Vehicle speed minders of 45 mph
(75 km/h), 55 mph (90 km/h) or
65 mph (105 km/h). Once you select
a speed, it will be shown in the display,
followed by an audible tone when the
preselected vehicle speed is exceeded.

2. set a maximum speed of 65, 70, 75, 80 MPH
What happens if you want to boot it past someone who is doing 65 and your max is set at 65? A button push first?

I've had HUD on my past 4 Corvettes. But then, again, I didn't mind stepping up to the plate to spend more than $40k on a car.

Go to the corvetteforums.com and you have the same whiny biotches but with more money.

Please program Gauge Mode in center dash to include Digital Speed Display. This is an important safety feature. I see there is a screen now dedicated to only display distance to empty. This screen can easily be upgraded to show large digital speedo. DTE is also shown on about 3 other screens! Please make dealer update available as most cars included this feature today. Thanks!

BONUS Feature: Show current gear selection (manual) on display as well.
Being 6'4" tall i completely agree with the digital speed display. The speedo sits directly behind the steering wheel and is completely blocked from 40-110 MPH. I am not a huge fan of CC as it takes away the thrill of driving this beast.

Well, I just go with the traffic flow and it's usually 70 & up... It's not hard to judge your speed when you get used to your car or truck. Question now is for the guys our gals that have the mustang already.... is the speed spot on or do you have a variation of what your indicated speed versus actual speed... Especially for the pp mustang.. if it is slightly off then what is the purpose of having your digital readout in the first place?

Setting a speed warning only chimes off if you go over the set speed... have it in my Audi... shows a mph1 or mph2 & a long tone.... a speed limit is something that can be set on the mykey ad well as no radio if not buckled up...etc

People just seem so tech savvy in here... more digital displays more lights... I would swear that someone is going to be like a deer in headlights.. just mesmerized by all the cool lights and gadgets.... I will admit... I like cool things and tech stuff but not gear position in a manual transmission for sure... seems like everyone wants more more more.... who knows. There might be an app out for it in the future

This may be a dumb question but does the present gear being used appear in the display for auto trans?

I've seen pictures on here that show the gear in the center display when having an A/T, so I do believe that it does do that.

I drove an auto, it does show between the gauges. In sport, if you don't shift it just showed "S" soon as you manually shift it shows the gear #.

When would you possibly need to see a digital display over the needle? If you are on a highway with a fair amount of traffic you still have plenty of time to check your speed (for whatever reason) or if you're on the straight at Willow Springs it's much easier to check the needle position vs. reading a display. As others have said, neither could be considered "precise" because they are both getting their input from the same place.

Also having the gear displayed on a manual? I agree with the others; hell, 90% of the time you don't even need to know what gear it is you are in, just go by feel.

I'd rather have the option to see where the torque is going through the diff, or any other bits of telemetry that might become available.
