There are threads already about this.
I searched for the ANSWERS to my questions but didn't see them. If you have them, then please, by all means...

“Designed to work with 2015-2017 Mustang GT electronics-custom calibration required”
“Vehicle harness and PCM not included. Use Ford Performance Control Pack which contains wiring, PCM and installation kit M-6017-504V -designed for street rod/project car installation with a manual transmission. For automatic transmission version, please see M-6017-M50A Control Pack-custom calibration required with either control pack!”
“NOTE: Custom PCM calibration required when installing crate engine in all vehicles including 2015-2017 Mustang”

From the first link you posted. Being in NorCal, I highly doubt a “custom PCM calibration” would be carb friendly....shame...it’d be a nice addition along with a gen 3 whipple

Yeah I saw that.

This was the part in question though "Custom PCM calibration required when installing crate engine in all vehicles including 2015-2017 Mustang”

Why would FP offer the motor without a tune to get it the advertised engine performance?

Also if using a Joe Blow Custom tune (I would think) there would be bigger window the burn through the motor with incorrect air/fuel ratios, spark adjustment, retard, etc. right?

I was trying to understand this further but your right about the smog thing and it would never fly unless I register it for off road use only or move to a super low population density county (Either I probably wouldn't do).

@tmorrow it would be sweet for this to be plug and play in the mustang. I’m no expert (so flame on): the PCM you can purchase has a tune but that PCM is incompatible with the S550. It’s designed for a much more basic application - controls motor and trans only (which is why you have to specify trans type) - like dropping it in a factory5 cobra or a fox body with no power anything and no electronic nannies...now you’ve got me thinking of building a nasty notchback.

You need to get with the times on PCM tuning and how far electronics have come

We dont buy PCMs you hook a laptop or handheld scanner and load tunes into it.

Most people data log and send the info back and forth to whatever tuner they choose to dial in the car.

Cars now days can be "remote" tuned and all you need to do is upload the tune into the car.

Gearhead go to the first link and take a look at what “Ford” offers for the engine and then come back.

Drop this motor in an S550 and have Lund or palm beach dyno tune it, and yes they could tune it with a whipple on top remotely. I’m with the times...

But, the PCM “Ford” sells with this motor will not work in an S550. Hence the “custom PCM calibration “tune” “Note” in the “Ford” sales material.

What are you talking about the engine does NOT come with a PCM.

Obviously if this engine was put in a S550 the factory PCM in the S550 would need to be tuned.

From the link........

Vehicle harness and PCM not included. Use Ford Performance Control Pack which contains wiring, PCM and installation kit M-6017-504V -designed for street rod/project car installation with a manual transmission. For automatic transmission version, please see M-6017-M50A Control Pack-custom calibration required with either control pack!
Engine does not include engine harness or flywheel/flexplate.
Engine mount bosses and bell housing mount pattern common to 4.6L modular engines.
Headers not included.
Assembly plant lift brackets not included
Premium unleaded fuel only!
NOTE: Custom PCM calibration required when installing crate engine in all vehicles including 2015-2017 Mustang
NOTE: M-6007-A50XS pictured, updated pictures coming soon!

 Whos lost? This engine is NOT plug and play or come with a PCM nor does Ford offer it as such. Unless you add the control pack that is designed for hotrod projects to complete the engine
