Hahahaa!!! Exactly! I’m a UX guy, designer and product manager…. Ford needs to spend more time listening to the right people about the Mustang and stop pandering to the stupid out of touch world they “think” we live in.
You do realize that the great majority of Mustang owners exist in that out of touch world they think we live in. Nothing, and I mean absolutely nothing, Ford can do to the Mustang will make all of us enthusiasts happy. And they know that. So the pandering will continue until we no longer have a Mustang to complain about.

Well said Ira. There’s way more Mustang owners out that could care less about the things we think about than there are of us. We’re the 10% (maybe a little more or maybe a little less) of owners that get way into the weeds with our cars.

Ford is “pandering” to the next generation of owners now, S550 was our kinda last hurrah with the things we want, including legacy nameplates. They’re giving us manual transmission (for those that want it), still giving us V8’s and still giving us a track-ready car (Dark Horse). Everything else is geared towards the next gen. Which I’m actually ok with, I want the Mustang to continue on for an 8th generation and hopefully more. Was hoping the Camaro would live on as well, competition is a good thing.

Except human factors hasn't changed in 8000 years. The rules of visual identification, of tactile feedback, of minimum finger dexterity and grabbing size and so forth haven't changed. Just because the you'ts are stupid and don't know facts doesn't mean you abandon the hard science of biology.

Not saying you’re wrong, but just about every product ever has pandered to the then current time, no matter if it makes any kind of scientific or biological sense.

They sure managed to train us all to contend with a keyboard in order to conduct every day life though.

That is kinda the point, isn’t it.

True but there are good and bad keyboards. Touch screens are not inherently evil. Doing a shit job with them is the problem.

I don't know if I agree with the pandering bit, though I agree with most of what you said. Pricing is definitely not geared towards younger buyers. The interior mainly hasn't changed. The engine is basically the same, as is the transmission suspension and brakes.

Just a few things are different - a little styling, screens and physical control changes. I bet if most of us drove an S650 it would be very familiar - with the only difference being a marked lightness in our wallets.

I feel it's more a minimal effort S650 generation rather than Ford trying for a different market. Small changes, production cost kept low and a relatively high price. The market for sporty cars is smaller, so Ford is putting in less time on it. They probably also feel that racing wins don't get them as many sales as they did in the past.

Fair points. I’ve driven S650 a several times now and it’s not noticeably different to me. The A10 shifting logic seems a bit better but overall doesn’t feel much different than mine (and I have zero issues with my A10). To me there’s enough differences on the interior that it does feel different (screens mostly but I think the seats are a little better and the overall quality just feels better).

With regards to racing, I agree I don’t think that has near the impact it used to. If it even has any impact at all.

I do think they are pandering to the next generation of enthusiasts with all the screen and tech stuff (the digital dash and 8” screen of S550 are more than sufficient for me if I want tech in the car) and I do see a fair amount of 20-30 something’s in Eco’s (some in GT’s but not many). Not sure if it’s totally price related or if they chose the Eco to compete with the JDM/KDM crowd and their fart noises. The younger folks don’t seem to want to talk to us older folks at the few meets I go to. They just do their own thing in their group 🤷🏻‍♂️

The available color choices for the 2025 so far are terrible imo. The new molten red might look good in the sun but it’s no royal crimson, that’s for sure. I’m disappointed that it seems you can only get the Wimbledon white with the 60th and those god awful wheels. No option for the classic wimby white with blue stripes which would have been far cooler for the 60th.
Ford would’ve drawn more interest from me by doing nothing other than offering the paint colors from 60 years ago. Oh wow, grabber blue again! I’m so stoked

Hey now, watch it with the GB sarcasm 🤭 j/k

Wimbledon was also only available for the 50th LE and the GT350 HE in 2020 so that’s not surprising. The new red could be cool, online it looks close to Ruby Red which I really liked.

Agreed though overall the color options are just meh. Can’t believe they ditched the yellow after just one year. Would be nice to have a green and/or orange in there.

Ford seems to hate all the colors I like. Whenever there’s a cool color, it only sticks around for a year or two while we get the same race red for ten years. 🙄

Colors that if they returned could persuade me to buy an S650:
Gotta have it green
Lightning blue
Royal Crimson
Competition Orange
Vista Blue
Mischievous Purple
