Ok.. It was not a full waste of time, I think it took longer getting the six pushpins back in correctly, there is no thumb will you need a small flat tip screwdriver, maybe slightly smaller than a quarter inch, I can't see the actual adjusting screw but a small flat tip screwdriver worked. .... Here is the difference on the garage door should be a little more at night actually on the road.

have you tried them at night, how was the new aim? Still too low, not high enough, too high? I need to do this to mine...

I just got home from work and driving them at night... They are a little high, but they are not the brightest foglights so I think it's perfect, if you go to brighter aftermarket bulbs you're going to piss off oncoming drivers I'm sure, just raise them up to the maximum ,you will probably be OK with traffic. ... But it's definitely a nice difference.

FWIW, doing this is illegal, and if you have active constabulary in your area, can get you a ticket. There is a maximum amount of driving light lumens allowed, and your head-lights already meet that maximum. Also, fog lights are not meant to illuminate the road ahead, they're meant to show you the lines on the road in foggy conditions. Hence the name "fog lights".

When driving in foggy conditions, you want the minimum (NOT maximum) light ahead, as it just reflects back off the fog and blinds you. So if you decide to go full retard and adjust your fog lights to illuminate the road ahead, it will be both illegal and stupid, as they then won't work as fog lights.

Plus, you youngsters have no idea of what older eyes are like, and you can flat-out blind on-coming drivers doing this, and cause and accident.

So, don't do this;

They are really driving lights, otherwise they would be yellow. I adjusted mine up just enough to meet the low beam pattern. Perfect and no old eyes are offended.

No, they are NOT driving lights. They are FOG lights. The color of the light means nothing.

And you're not grasping this; yes, you WILL blind oncoming drivers. If you do not understand the geometry of this, you should. Because they are mounted low, and you have adjusted them up to meet your driving lights (which are pointed downwards), the fog-light lumens will continue on an upward path. Past the point where they meet your driving lights, the light continues moving upward.

What did you think, the light from the fogs would just magically stop at the point where they meet the driving lights?

I swear, some people's kids. How old are you?

Probably older than you. Your ridiculous rant makes me want to buy a big truck and put one of those 100 light LED bar thingies on my bumper to light up the next county.

CFR 393.5: Front fog lamp. A lighting device whose beam provides downward illumination forward of the vehicle and close to the ground, and is to be used only under conditions of rain, snow, dust, smoke or fog. A pair of fog lamps may be used alone, with parking, tail, side, marker, clearance and identification lamps, or with a lower beam headlamp at the driver's discretion in accordance with state and local use law.

CFR 393.24(d): Aiming. Headlamps, auxiliary driving lamps and front fog lamps shall be aimed to meet the aiming specifications in FMVSS No. 108 (49 CFR 571.108), SAE J581, and SAE J583, respectively.

SAE J583 concerns the aiming of fog lamps, but I don't have a copy of that available. I would expect it to carry information on angle and distance forward. Anyone got a copy?

EDIT: From the Fusion forum, which isn't as dispositive as the actual SAE spec, but it's something:
"... standard SAE J583 specifies the vertical inclination (angle) of the top beam cutoff should be equal or lower than 0.75 degrees down for lamps lower than 0.65 meters (25 inches) above ground. Fog lamps higher than 0.65 m should be aimed 1.00 degrees down."

Thank you for the suggestion, but I'm going to choose to ignore your statement.

Technically, yes, they are Driving Lights, and technically, yes, Fog Lights are typically yellow so as to NOT reflect bright white light into your eyes from the fog...And I'm 61 years old, retired Police Officer, so I do know what I am talking about...

Yes it is... I drive home from work every night, they shine to the sides of the road, and we have a Lotta deer up here I don't need to hit. ... I should've did this 8000 miles ago.
