Why is that chap dragging a flex airline all over the wing:frusty:
He's probably also got those jeans with the studs on the corners of the pocket... and a bunch of keys hanging from one of his belt loops...

But it's OK... he's working his way from the centre outwards!

Just great!
my car has a blend date on the window sticker of 13/10/16 which suggests this week was scheduled to be a rhd build week.
I assume my build will be shunted to week startin 17/10/16 now but whose to say they will follow that pattern.

Blend date on mine was also 13/10 so now they decide to shut the factory, I fully intend to pose the question if mine has missed the week and now goes back in to the pot OR if they simply start where they left off. I am staggered how bad communication is overall so I dont feel bad for asking whats going on.

You would think an 8 month lead time would ensure enough orders to fill the quiet time???

Just to add to my own post, I have asked Karen and Stacey the direct question. Do they start where they left off or has the car missed its slot and tough, you see when the next slot is due

If the latter I genuinely think it might be enough for me to say sod it, and see whats out ready for delivery.

I believe from the last time; everything shuffles back. And, if it's right in my thinking, the RHD orders will all be pushed back 1 build week.

So all yours will be done on the next batch, whereas, those that would have been in the next batch, have been pushed back another month, unless they add in more build slots.

They built some RHD last week as the excel sheet we can all add to showed some builds on the 3rd so it looks like two weeks on the trot they were doing RHD?

Do they just have limited weeks they do RHD? I don't imagine they turn the factory on its head and run the RHD through the normal process line or do they. It feels like we get shoe horned in (which to be fair I get) but I think I would freak if they went back to producing cars scheduled for the w/c 17th and the missed ones got shunted to the next RHD slot. We shall see but has this happened before, you suggest there was a last time?

From what I remember there's certain days and points in the processing week they do RHD's. Can't really comment fully on it as I don't work there

Yeah last time was when there was a snow storm in Baltimore, they stopped producing for about 2 weeks (no spaces to put the cars in balti); which hit my car, mine was jumped back a month, I never got official confirmation that, that was the reason why; - but it was highly probable that, that was the reason.
Others wee shuffled back a couple of weeks etc. All depends, best bet is Karen and Stacey, who appear to be the only competent people within the entire of Ford, as I've now lost all respect for Andy Barratt :paddle:

I had a reply from Stacey in so far as confirming my estimated build date (which was yesterday in her email but its the 13th) stating they were unaware of any plant closure and even if it did then my build date would remain unaffected. I did have to raise the point in a reply, I found it hard to believe that it would be built in a closed factory (sent the news link) and asked for some checking on what would happen to this weeks builds. Its all about as clear as mud, which is a bit harsh on mud to be honest.

Although its infuriating having to wait as we do for our cars, i agree with others that the factory wont have the parts to make all the outstanding RHD orders. Nor do Ford appear to have the capacity to deal with their distribution. They dont have anywhere to put the finished cars, the capacity on the boats, and even if they did all that they would spend ages in a backlog in Belgium waiting for a splash of underseal on their exhausts.

And in the end the wait is worthwhile..............

I assume I will get my parts quicker now, and won't take the 3 months I've been quoted

I won't hold my breath

Hi,

A bit of a different view, as Ford are matching supply and demand, it means that the desirability will be remain higher which will help with the longer term residuals.

We have to wait longer for cars and get no discount, but the price doesn't drop as quickly as the more mainstream Ford models.

agree with this. Putting the idle week to one side, I think Ford planned exactly how many RHD to build long before they started production. Say 10,000 over the next 5 years, or for the life of the 6th gen model for example. They may decide to increase that overall figure but a limited production is something I hope is true, it makes ownership that little bit more special.

After care/customer service is a pile of p1ss I agree, but I think production wise they have it spot on.

You are absolutely correct, Cypress98, and it's a very good reason the Mustang (in the UK) has retained 99.5% of it's value in the first year.

http://www.mustang6g.com/forums/showthread.php?t=66931

To a lesser extent, its exactly why they implemented this week shut down. Ford do not want to have too many Mustangs stacked up at dealers. All this means is they'll need to offer strong incentives to shift them a few months down the line. Whilst this does, of course, have a knock-on impact on depreciation, it also hits Ford's bottom line.

In terms of the UK (and other RHD markets) I'm still sure they could have used that week's production to turn out more RHD cars. Clearly they're in a position where they've produced too many LHD cars.......they've got the opposite problem when it comes to RHD. They could have gone some way to catch up with demand.....and please a bunch of customers at the same time....all without impacting RHD residuals.

I do appreciate the comments about the "just in time" production process and that RHD parts wouldn't have been available, but perhaps this is a lesson for the future.

:)

Spot on, I was going to post and say I hope they shut it down for a month, though those here still waiting for probably linch me. :D

But shortages, rarity, help keep values high. :)
