I suspect this is largely, if not wholly, due to the wait list and those that want their car a bit quicker. That, coupled with recent price rises, really helps values.

I suspect you suspect right.

I somehow doubt my almost 1yr old, 12K mile car is worth 99.5% of what I paid.

Be interesting to see what it IS worth though...

Besides, the pool of genuine secondhand cars that this info has been gleaned from must be tiny. These will be ex demo cars and cars with sub 1K miles on them.

For anyone interested in pricing for trade in vs selling privately, i recently looked at doing exactly this and the highest I was offered was £32k on a 16 GT in triple yellow with all options but no custom pack and 4500 miles. That's about £6k below list which was too much margin vs private sales for me to go through so I decided to keep it.

I'd be interested to see who is getting anywhere near 99.5% return.

Private sale, with the money you've spent on it? To the right buyer, probably £32k/34k. Impossible to judge without trying (don't).
