I know there are lots of folks that dont have the inclination to do that, and would rather just pay for a turn key kit, but I like the challenge of DIY myself :) Part of the joy of the obsession for me :)
I opted for the 1122 portable Kranzle Alex but had I gone with a fixed unit in the garage, I might have followed your lead. I too enjoy a good DIY project although I would still have purchased the 1322 and all the other stuff from Matt to go with it.

But some people are good with “just ok”, and that’s fine.
Very true, Brian and I've even heard Matt utter a similar statement. Unless I missed the boat, finding THE best products is the reason he started the business after all, right? And hell, who DOESN'T make mistakes when just starting out at anything, I'd say it goes with the territory. I just wish Matt had been given a more ear-pleasing voice. <grin>

Yeah, I was inclined to put mine "on a shelf" :) so it worked out really well. I would LOVE to have a Kranzle but the Active 2.0 was more in my budget and it works GREAT so far, plus my outlet in my garage is 15 amp and I didn't want to upgrade the wiring and breaker to 20 amp (YET) :) ... I did thankfully find that Clean Garage had most of what I needed so I shopped there. Very happy with the quality of my setup so far, the fittings and hoses are top notch, the Kobrajet hose and MTM stubby gun, my MTM foam canons, the whole ball of wax... The 75 foot hose on my reel is plenty to get the job done. My next and probably final step will be to put an actual hose bib in my garage under the hose reel... Easy enough to do (for a plumber anyway) since my outside spigot is only about 15 feet away, just have to get in the crawl space and tee off and run a line over and thru my foundation wall... But a 15 foot feed line from my current spigot thru the garage door to my DI tank is easy enough to hook up with quick disconnects, just takes a few extra minutes to bleed the air out of the system before I start...

MOSmaTic EXCELLENT WIT, Alex! YO! <BSEG>

And I hear ya loud and clear on the Obsessive(CD) brain mandating that you "do it yourself" when it comes to a mounted unit. Heck, each individual garage's layout alone would be a huge factor in the decision and almost certainly make it mandatory for most.

Plus, despite the cost difference, I'll betcha dollars to doughnuts that even DEYON couldn't tell the difference between your setup and one of Mattie's, in use. Well, maybe not D but you or I. <laughing> We're talking the tiniest of differences, if any at all, so you did good by saving quite a few pesos. Perhaps the biggest question is useful life and I imagine that if you take care of the A2 rig, yours will last as long as mine.

BTW, can you change the oil in the A2, and easily get parts if needed?

I'd LOVE to have a wall-mounted unit with a hundred feet of CobraJet hose but it just isn't in the cards because I simply have too much chidt ON the walls! <laughing at myself, now> Plus, I like to use the pw on the patio and cool deck out back which wouldn't be possible with garage unit.

Still thinking about picking up an A2 just for the patio but haven't pulled the trigger just yet. Main reason is, I recently had some kids use my decades old Honda gas pw to clean about three thousand square feet of driveway and in the process, they killed the pump so I gotta get another gas pw, first. Surprisingly, it's cheaper or no more expensive to buy a whole new unit than it is to simply buy a replacement pump! Whodda thought, right?

Yeah I have a gas powered Stihl RB 400 dirt boss for my outdoor duties like driveway etc. It's a beast. As for changing the oil in the 2.0, I don't think it's official but it can be done. That said in the event it does completely die, I can buy 4 or 5 Active 2.0 for the price of a Kranzle. And I anticipate it lasting at least 4-5 years... And something new will be out by then.

Instead of adding an inside spigot I just teed off my CR spotless piping and added a short hose and nozzle. Now I have a bucket filler without needing an extra stubout and I can have DI or Tap water in my buckets.

I guess I just understand where he’s coming from, even if I don’t agree with everything he says.

I see many people comment on his videos complaining about his prices, his opinions on what’s good and what’s “junk”, and that he’s “only targeting those with money”. Now while some of them might have a shred of viability to those arguments, it seems that most of them are just complaining that they can’t afford the nice things in life. Or they don’t understand his process of curating through thousands and thousands of dollars worth of products just to figure out which one is the best for himself. (Key word, “HIMSELF”) His stated intent is to share what he’s found and what works for him in the hopes that other people can save time and money on better products than what is mainstream.

And to be honest, his prices aren’t that bad when you think about the effort he’s gone through to bring superior quality to the masses. I’ve compared just about everything I’ve purchased from OG and 9 out 10 times their version is superior.

But some people are good with “just ok”, and that’s fine.
One thing I appreciate about Matt is that he tested all the pressure washers .. made his recommendations but still provided quality components to go with the lower model units such as sun joe.. which gives the avg guy a chance to at least replace some of the really crappy components while still staying within a budget. I ended up going with the active 2.0 because I had the extra finances and wanted a turn key solution. But I really appreciated the information and the options provided
I still cannot stand to listen to his whiney voice…..glad he has staff doing some of them now.. to me my worst nightmare would be sitting in front of a computer 24x7 watching his “wash and talk” videos

He never intended on selling anything but high end machines. However, I think he realized that his reach would be limited with that approach. At some point he acknowledged that, as he said himself, there is a "progression" to life. So while he is in a position to have the best of the best, he knows that wasn't always the case. That's where the addition of lower priced machines and packages came into being.

Rather than compete directly with the box stores selling pressure washers at rock bottom prices, he chose a selection of machines ranging in price, then did all the hard work figuring out what parts and fittings were needed to make each of those units perform at their best. Then, if/when the customer wanted to upgrade, things like those hose, gun, reel, nozzles ect could be transferred.

So while he will never be the cheapest on the market, there is value to those higher prices. Most people can't see that.

The sad thing is, he just recently said he will no longer read and respond to comments. He used to read every comment and respond where appropriate, he even responded to me after taking on a suggestion I made. It's sad that ignorant and deliberately nasty people ruin it for the rest of us. Now he will no longer interact with viewers. Don't blame him.

The funny thing is, you can just tell those who complain about his prices or label him as an elitist are using an MTM short gun, the soap he recommends or have bought one of the pressure washers he recommends................all purchased elsewhere after learning about those products watching OG videos for free.

The below link is his pressure washer spreadsheet.

The Pressure Washer Project – Obsessed Garage
The Pressure Washer Spreadsheet

(21) The Pressure Washing Project - YouTube

That spreadsheet is available for anyone to download and view. A spreadsheet that cost a significant amount of money to produce, he bought every single pressure washer shown there and many more that aren't, then tested them one after the other to arrive at suggested fittings, nozzles and orifice sizes. As far as I can tell, no one else has done something like this to that extent.

To me, he made a tactical error doing that for the world to see. All that time, money and effort is being used and copied by just about every competitor in the business. He makes no money from that.

That’s something he has directly addressed on his Inside the Hex videos. He wants to get to the point where he brings a product to the market in such a way that he can command the market verses saying “hey this works really well” and then people flock to other vendors to copy what Matt has done. His issue is building enough credibility to get manufacturers to commit to a single-vendor distributor. This is what happened with Kranzle. No one in the states was using them 10 years ago until he tested it and brought it to market. Now every Tom, Dick, and Harry can import Kranzle PWs and are making a buck off of Matt’s hard work.

has there been any word on if they updated and changed the figures for the results? I know there was an issue with the psi gauge they were using for more than half of the units they tested? I just haven’t heard when they will update the spreadsheet with the correct results

Of course they were. But how many hobbyist detailers (pro's as well) knew about them or where to get them? His influence brought the short gun to the mainstream.
