Of course they were. But how many hobbyist detailers (pro's as well) knew about them or where to get them? His influence brought the short gun to the mainstream.
I am not able to provide any stats or anything but I do know mtmhydroparts was already well known in the detailing community when it comes to pressure washing products and accessories. Detailers domain was a distributor of their products and were actually the ones who Matt learned about kranzle from

has there been any word on if they updated and changed the figures for the results? I know there was an issue with the psi gauge they were using for more than half of the units they tested? I just haven’t heard when they will update the spreadsheet with the correct results
From what I have seen, he got to the point where he found enough data and has openly said he's done with testing pressure washers. Mainly because there are only so much variation between brands and price points when they all use a variation on the same pump. The differences are more pronounced at the high end where there is more variation in pump design.

All correct.

But again, it was his influence that brought MTM, Mosmatic and Kranzle to prominence and expanded the sale potential. This includes markets outside of the USA.

That sucks to hear. I remember when this issue with their faulty psi gauge and test results being incorrect was first brought up. A member in another forum had run the exact same test with different results brought it up to them and we were told they would update the spreadsheet after a redo with a calibrated gauge.

From memory, that was on the Active 2.0, which they went back and retested with the Active rep present for the video.

Honestly, I have to stick with my guns here and say those brands were already well known. Of course YouTube and videos have helped with sales but those brands and products were already in use by detailers before him. The one thing for sure that he deserves credit for is the placement of the pressure washer on the wall to save space. It’s really his biggest contribution to the detailing industry and has helped a lot of people with where to set things up.

Not sure why the pissing contest. Yes MTM was known, but not to the average weekend warrior. And Matt improved on their design significantly when he integrated the swivel and changed everything to stainless.

Now, we can move on as this horse is long since dead.

my guy, no pissing contest here. I apologize if that’s how it feels but I am just trying to obtain and provide some clarificationI on the matter. I wasn’t quite sure what you meant when saying Matt improved their design? Who’s design exactly and which model? Integrated swivels were in use and already a thing by brands like mosmatic? For the longest time they made one with and without their live swivel.

Yes, the gauge they used to test the 2.0 is the same one they used in most if not all their tests. I believe it was during the testing of this unit though that they realized the issue with the faulty gauge but at that point they had already got rid of the other pressure washers. I really wish someone on the team would have made sure their gauge was calibrated and working properly

There is certainly some ego going on. His videos basically took the Kranzle brand from a pokey little pro-only brand to a worldwide benchmark available to anyone who sees value in the commercial grade aspect of them. The same for the pressure washer stubby gun via MTM and Mosmatic. The argument is, well those products existed before he came on the scene.................yes, but how many average Joe's knew they could also have such a thing on their pressure washer at home? Yeah, not many. So in some cases, his ego is well justified. However.......................

In the quest to make content, which is basically his form of marketing, he has many times undermined his own success by showing off new products waaaaay before they were a sellable proposition. Now, that does in effect gauge the demand for a new product, but it also gives competitors a heads up to what you have coming.

The most prominent being the Apex Stubby Nozzle for Ego blowers. By the time they went into production, Ego themselves had come up with their own version and basically killed Apex overnight. All because he showed his hand too early.

The MTM SGS28, which is now a VERY popular and widely sold gun, was basically Matt's creation in response to laggy stock coming from Mosmatic. Matt basically asked MTM to make him a short gun with a integrated swivel on the superior SG28 gun, which then became the SGS28. Again, he gave early access to what was coming, compounded by not being able to commit to exclusivity on that product................................so every single detailing supplier now carries what he originally came up with.

Similar situations have occurred with Active pressure washers, CobraJet hoses, Swisstrax, certain Kranzle pressure washers, Pressol, CR-Spotless, Koch Chemie, Bead Maker.....................................basically he taught people what to buy but didn't have exclusivity, so people went and bought the products elsewhere, all the while the respective companies benefited from the FREE content made by Obsessed Garage. That would SUCK big time.

It's now to the point where he is more guarded with upcoming products rather than sharing his book of ideas with the world. You will also notice more exclusivity, which started with the OG-only high-flow Kranzle 1322, his own OG manufactured high pressure hoses and OG-only version of the Cox power reels. In recent times, he now has exclusivity on Bilt Hamber and Pressol for the US-Canada markets and has his own DI water treatment systems in the works.

So while it looks like he is a shrewd business man, he has also made plenty of mistakes.........................at least he is trying to innovate and find new opportunities.

Same for me. I couldn't begin to document the number of times he has offended me with some of his beliefs, but I've learnt so much from that channel. I particularly love seeing the garage transformations, If I had that chance, I'd be following the same path.
the mtm sgs28 was Matt’s creation? I’ve never heard this before? I don’t think there’s anything on mtm’s site saying this but maybe I’m missing something? When did they say this?

No, Matt took the MTM SGS28 and improved on their design significantly and had it built by Mosmatic it’s known as the OG Spec sprayer. It’s not built by MTM.

Oh, I see what you meant now. I want to say you probably haven’t had a chance to see what mosmatics pw gun looked like before? The “ogspec” mosmatic gun is basically the exact same gun mosmatic has sold in the past. The only difference is that they shortened the inlet connection by about half an inch and they installed obsessed garbage branding on the side. I believe Matt might be using different qc coupler too but that is something you could change out on the original gun if you wanted to.

Maybe you should listen to his explanation of how he developed his version instead of speculating. Either way, it doesn’t matter one iota who did what when.
