I've been on here a while but this will be my first Mustang (my dad owned an '83 Fox which he sold). At this point I won't need much more convincing to pick up a 2015 GT based on the renders and some educated guesses of other details.

We seem to have a good mix here of first timers and veteran owners, some who are on their 3rd or 4th or more Mustang it seems. I'm curious who else here will be a first time owner?

- If so, what got you interested in the S550 instead of looking at the current generation? For me it was talk of IRS, something sportier, more modern and hopefully more refined.

- For the veterans, if you're on the site I'm assuming you have a good deal of interest in this one.... are you more excited about the changes to come or afraid they'll screw it up? Looking for a big departure or hoping for something more faithful to the current Mustang?

I'm a truck guy myself, always have been but always loved Mustangs from afar. This would be my first one. My wife and I own an X5 but about to have an empty nest so we (me actually) looking to downsize the house and cars.

What really got my attention with the 2015 is actually the Boss 302 since I know that's the benchmark being used for the S550. Mustangs reaching BMW level performance at that price point is very impressive. If they can UP the quality of the build and make it feel a little less rough around the edges (another rumor that got my attention) for a modern sports car they have me sold for sure. Otherwise I'll take a hard look at a vette.

Mine was a '67 Cougar, but I think that's close enough to count...

First Timer here........Been dreaming, wanting and saving for about 12 years now. I've been waiting so long because I want a milestone mustang and 50 years is a pretty big milestone. My dream is about 6 to 8 months away, depending on production and delivery dates. Can't wait!!! The first year I'll probably wash the paint completely off, haha!

Looong time owner. Excited and afraid of what they will do to it.... but thats no different than I've felt for each major redesign.

Ford will be happy to hear of many prospective first-time owners. It's what will keep the enthusiast base fresh and the car going for another half-century. I've always had fun meeting new owners over the years and it keeps fueling my own interest.

From my own observations we got a good amount of turnover from the Fox to the SN95 styling and the S197 pulled a lot of people back into the fold. I don't think we'll see something as drastic this time around.... BUT Europe, IRS, lighter(?), more modern, could all equal new eyes on the car that would've never considered it. I think that's a great thing.

First time owner here.

I am probably the type of guy that most people here despise, but I generally don't like muscle cars. I like sportier, more modern looking cars. I wasn't a fan of current gen, but the rumors and renders of next gen seem to fit the type of car I am looking for. I'm very excited at the thought of a sporty, high quality car. I'm a huge fan of the GT86 line (BRZ,FRS), but I don't believe they were powerful enough, nor had good enough build quality. The mustang should be a car that many people like me have been craving for.

I'm very much in the same boat as idk

I'm English originally so not really into the muscle car image historically. But I like the current Mustang and the new one looks even more up my alley. I've typically driven VWs and Audis, but my daily driver now is a 2012 Ford Focus, the first American car I've ever owned. It's a base model as I wanted the stick shift, but I've been super impressed with the ride, handling, steering feel, brakes, quality and comfort of the cloth seats. It doesn't have much power and the interior is plasticky, but as a balanced package it's just terrific. Plus my Ford dealer is the best car dealer I've ever dealt with.

So this got me all the more interested in looking at what Ford is up to.

My first new car was a 67 Fastback, black on white, 289-4 barrel, manual. Drove it into the ground. Followed by a 71 Mach 1, 351-4 barrel, manual. Caught my current wife with that one. Got married, honeymooned in Daytona, got pregnant, traded for a Subaru sedan, raised two boys.
Got our 86GT in '92. Been travelin with it ever since. Can't let it go. Perfectly reliable hot-rod.

I believe the Mustang hobby is 90% about the modern cars. Love the classics. Prefer the next Mustang.

Had a 94 v6, a 98 supercharged GT, now a 01 cobra, and I plan on buying a 15/16 GT when I graduate college. If it is a little out of my price range I'll look for a 2011-2014 5.0 with a track pack.

Edit: I still have a 1970 bronco sport 302, and a 1992 Thunderbird super coupe too!:ford:

I have owned my Fox since 1996, and have a '68 GT notch I took from my dad that he bought in pieces back in 1990 or so.

I am excited about the S550 because of the milestone, and based on Ford's current offerings I think(and hope) it will be amazing.

That said, I want a "Mustang". I see things in the renders that really turn me off, and hope that the small details will shine in person, and make a huge difference.

I've wanted a Mustang since 98/99 when the New Edge SN-95s came out. I've been waiting for the correct intersection of money and the right car. It may happen in 2015, it may happen a little later.
