Finally my R is scheduled

no don't care for the look, on black it cuts in to the clarity a bit. But safety wise it the way to go for rock chips. when the chip comes Ill be like dam it! why didn't I cover it.

I understand why you would not want to get it if that is/was the case. But I have to tell you ..The place that I'm using, did a black car the night before, and I seen it while I was there the next morning. I thought the car was shinier where the xpel was...just my opinion. I think the trade off from mini rock chips and dents in the paint is more than a fair exchange. Remember once you repaint a factory front end its never as durable....Peace of mind is another factor with me when I'm driving 60 mph behind a car..

Look into Suntek PPF, and not Xpel. Stop by a reputable shop so you can see a sample of it.

Donson, Who/where are the folks you're using located? I'm "old school" and haven't completly warmed up to this concept yet. I'd like to go by and look at some installed examples. My concern is how it looks at the edges and difference in appearance between items covered and those not covered. Thanks

Nate is the owner great guy and has already done 4 GT350's

Now another route I have considered is 3M Scotchguard clearbra ..I think its a great product if I was going to leave crap on the car for an extended time..(NOT HAPPENING) It also is at the minimum $1,900 dollars....$300 more...where do you draw the line on this?

My highly regarded local detailer installs (and prefers) ClearGuard. I'll be using it on my car.

I can't speak to the above brand films already mentioned, but how well any applied film protects your finish depends not on how it looks, but how durable and thick it is. Of course, you want that perfect reflective finish to the surface; for the film to disappear altogether.

I have 3M on my Cobra that still looks fantastic after 9 years. There is no detectable difference between the show-quality paint finish and the overlaying film. The only clue that a film is applied is when occasionally someone will think the car has a fine, straight scratch - which is actually the edge of the film.

Unfortunately, over the years road rash still got through the 3M and chip the paint. Having a fiberglass body might have something to do with that, I don't know. But I do know that the paint would be a total mess without any protection at all!

I'm not convinced that any film on the market today can totally prevent road rash, so you might as well get one that is: repairable; easily replaceable, and provides the finish you desire. And I am interested in everyone else's experience because I'm sure to add one whenever I get me car.

This is exactly what happened to mine this week, 6 days before supposed build day.. I'm not convinced it's early but just part of the process. Either way it's progress so congrats. Your car seems to be lockstep right behind mine by a few days.
