So after two visits to dealer to get the trash bag in the wind noise at 4K rpm fixed, when I told them how to fix it....on the second visit.they agreed to put the updated part on that’s covered in the vinyl coating. They called the tech hotline and other super secret sources of info and realized that it was not a heat shield or clamp or nut/bolt.....but indeed the noise was coming from the plate, which was vibrating like a metal drumhead....hope to get it back soon.

Hope it works soon. To any of you who are unable to get your dealerships to comply, I was able to solve my issues with the application of adhesive lead weight designed for golf clubs. Cost me about $10 and 15 minutes of my time. Adding the weight to the plate changes the inherent resonant frequencies of the plate and has moved it out of the operational parameters of the engine for me.

Yes, I was going to do that....but as its under warranty, I wanted the new plate. I opened a case with Ford customer care, and they got the message. There have been plenty of cases like this, and and they should out out a TSB for it.

Got the car back today. Noise is gone. Got it warmed up in traffic and went through 3800 to 4000 rpm a few times, and the trash bag noise is gone. If anyone else has the problem, get the new part.

It’s hit or miss. The 2019 cars have the updated part. The new part is covered in vinyl to change the resonance frequency. It happens when warmed up and at about 4K rpm. Can’t hear it with windows up. It’s sounds like a metal trash bag is stuck under the car flapping in the wind. But it’s a hit or miss if you get it. Did a longer drive last night where I could get the engine hot and go up and down the rev ranges, the noise is gone. Looking at the repair order, I see they changed the transmission oil too and bled the clutch as well. Anyhow, if anyone else gets this problem....its not a heat shield and its not a loose bolt.

Agreed. Total hit or miss. I had my car for months and it didn't appear until a long 2 hour session up in the mountains where I was pushing it hard. Ran into another GT350 who heard me go by and he thought I had a blower on the car because of the noise it made as I went past. So obviously it's audible to more than just the driver.

It sure was. Especially near concrete barriers or a tunnel...even on backroads with trees and bushes around, the sound reflects off objects and comes back at you.

I think this is developing on my car. Maybe if I ever get it out of the shop for my 1 month ac repair I can look for it and take it back to the shop...

In all seriousness, thanks for this info!

Did you see the new plate?? I had my 2019 up on my lift to do it's first oil change last week. I looked at the plate and thought that it was not the updated plate as it looked like it was just a uncoated metal plate. Is the coating a clear coating??

It’s part number 7007, rear cylinder block plate. It does not show up on the online site for consumers but the dealers can see it on their online parts catalog. Ford Performance can give you the part number too if you call them.
