I bought my car new 6 years ago, since it was a California Special I've added a lot of 'cosmetic' items to it over time.
I waited 15 weeks to get my Cervini Ram Air hood since I had them paint top, bottom and vents matching Kona Blue.
Now that the car looks MEAN, I need to back it up. I live close to American Shelby and they offer a Super Snake 800+hp whipple and since I'm an old guy who likes chrome, they offer a chromed whipple.

Now my question(s) to members here who already have a whipple on their 6Gs
What else should be done to car?
My car is the 10spd & 3.15 rear gears, currently has 25,800 miles and is only a weekend driver.

American Shelby wants me to upgrade rear diff w/3.55s, half shafts
Also trans cooler and upgrade brakes.

please give me honest advice, I do know I'll be paying top dollar at Shelby but they do these conversions daily.

It's a weekend car that gets less than 5k miles a year, you want a simple "turn key" solution that'll work every time you want to drive it. I don't blame you for going to a reputable company that knows what they're doing.

You mention you're an old guy, but what kind of driving do you actually do? Is it just a cruiser to church on Sundays? You like showing it off at cars and coffee? You like to go attack the corners at the local track? You light them up at every traffic light?

The additional upgrades they're offering you is something that 95% of the mustang owners out there will never need. By getting them, it's mainly bragging rights and talking points at your local cars and coffee dudes. But on the flip side, if you drive it like the other 5% with a very specific purpose, those things could be very very handy (and some other stuff as well).

Beautiful car ! We can give you some options on the setup with the Whipple itll depend on what you are doing with the vehicle. We dont see it necessary to change the gears but itll also depend what you are doing with the car. Do you have an actual power goal in mind? Shelby rates the sup[er snake at 800+ but that will be to the crank not to the wheels. If youd like you can give us a call over here at Beefcake as we our one oif Whipples largest dealers and sell a ton of them and can help you with everything you would need for a turn key package! Ill include a link below as an example.

I wouldn't change any parts, just put the the whipple on and go.

The only thing extra I would do is have an aftermarket tune installed.

If I was going to stay on 93 and around 11lbs boost week end driver, Maybe WOT once in a while, I would install the Whipple Stage 2 and upgrade my brakes (If your not a PP1>)and call it a day. Their are quite a few members who run this set up with no other upgrades and assume they are doing fine without issues. If your wanting the Shelby America 825+ upgrade which I think is close to 50k due to other upgrades then go that way. It all depends what your wanting to spend, your wants and your driving habits. I know Beefcake is a good supplier with great customer service (which is more important than the bottom dollar) Good Luck.

I'd at least do the half shafts if you're going to be beating on it off the line.

They want to sell you a Whipple and go up in a rear gear size? As it is you’ll be blowing the tires off with 3.15’s.

Yes, I'm an old guy - 68. had a lot of muscle cars back in the 80s & 90s.
Now I only drive this car on weekends, never on a track, a couple Cars& Coffees and car shows.
I figured Shelby was just trying to upsell me. I do want the 'chrome' lid whipple since most of my cosmetic upgrade to my GT/CS is chrome.
I can handle the extra HP, but won't do crazy things with it.

Is there anything that should be added along with the whipple for a weekend cruiser?

we can only get 91 octane here in Vegas, but E85 is at a station only 1/4 mile away from my house.

For the type and style of driving you'll be doing, I don't think any other upgrades would be needed to the drivetrain. You would just be spending money because it made you feel better, but no real value for you.

Two exceptions would be the fuel system (but that should be included with the Whipple install) and tires. A good set of summer tires can make the difference between enjoying the power and facing the wrong direction in a ditch.

Enjoy your car!
