Was it broken or you just follow the recall?
Just followed the recall, as the car was already up there for some other stuff so just had them do it

Just picked my car up from having this fixed
Care to share any feedback of the experience. Did you leave the car or wait for the FSA to be completed? How long did it take? Any issues from the swapping of the shifter?

Thank you for any details you can share.

I would have thought that Ford would have made up a kit to complete this FSA with everything that is needed to do the job. But no the dealership is given a list of part numbers for hardware needed plus they order a complete shifter assembly. Here is the shifter that went into my car. Hopefully it is free of the defects that made this FSA necessary.

Would you happen to know if it is an upgrade over original? How long was your car at Dealership?

It is not an upgrade. It is correcting either a defective part or assembly error in the reverse lockout mechanism.

I left it there, as I was having tint done and calipers painted at their custom shop. From my tech keeping me updated. Parts came in Wednesday of this week, but was missing a part that came in Friday, and it was done in a few hours. I had no issues driving it home with the new shifter, couldn’t tell a difference from the old.

overall, car was at the dealer two weeks getting other work done, and the swap took a few hours from what the tech told me once they had all the parts

I am having absolutely no luck with this.

Dropped my car off at 8am today, was told it would be ready between noon and 2pm. Just got called that the dealership has been super busy and the tech wants to make sure he does a flawless job, so it will be ready at maybe 6pm tonight or else tomorrow morning, and they'll pick me up and get me a loaner. They apologized that it's taking longer than expected, but ... just frustrating for a non-mandatory recall that I was trying to get done just as a preventative measure.

This afternoon is beautiful weather, getting up to 70 degrees. Tomorrow is rain all afternoon.

I could be the only one on the forum who has personally completed this FSA . Ford gives their techs 1 hour labor to do this. I really really took my time and it took me 2 1/2 hours. After doing one I can see where it could done in 1 to 1 1/2 hours. Your experience is not a good one for sure.

Given some of the horror stories on the forums about dealership incompetence, it looks like your dealer is one of the good ones. Dealership service departments sometimes get backed up due to unplanned additional mechanical issues with the cars they service. It happens. Picking you up and or getting you a loaner is a nice perk. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth. I'm betting they do a good job and you'll be back in the saddle in no time.

I already decided to bite the bullet and have it at the dealership for a few days. Don't really want to, but I feel I'll be less disappointed knowing beforehand that it's gonna be longer than an afternoon. Hope they made good on their promise. I do agree that they do seem like they're trying their best to remedy the problem.

Beautiful day here today so took ride in the country to my dealer to talk about the shifter issue. I have not had any issues with it. Service manager said they have done 2 of them and brought the tech in so we could talk about it. Said they can do it in 2 hr or less. I will be taking mine in when the weather is good. They ordered the part and will hold until I'm ready.
They also gave me a card holder!

How did you go about getting the dealer to order you the parts and hand them over so that you could do it yourself?
