It’s hard to tell from the photo’s but that could also be solvent pop. Solvent pop leaves more of a hole appeaeance then a pull away blem. Fish eyes look very similar to solvent pop but are usually only in the clear. If it is fish eye’s and you don’t see it in the base then the car had a poor blend repair done. All that said buffing won’t help much. That’s an easy repair for a decent tech. Basically wet sand the panels down to a smooth finish with 600, rebase and blend it properly, then reclear the panels. That’s definitely not an oem application.

This is a job for a pro-will require sanding and then clear coat repair/black magic to make it look right.

I think you have the answers you need above.

You could also try and find how far they went with the job, check panel edge returns etc.

Note your fender to bumper shut line, I know sometimes they aren’t great from the factory but coupled with the repaint, it might be worth further investigation.

but clearly never repaired under warranty (now expired)
Just an FYI the repair is actually a new hood. There’s no repainting that corrosion, it will just keep coming back.

Good advice from others on the fender. A good shop should be able to take care of that no problem.

Good luck, Lightning Blue is a cool color, don’t see many around.

The hood can be saved, it just depends on if they know the proper techniques to do so. The lines on these cars are so good they really don’t need any after market help. That’s just opinion of course. One thing you have going for you is blue’s are one of the simpleist colors to match and blend. Great color on these cars to.

I appreciate all of the feedback! I have my body shop ready to look at it when I pull the car out for spring. Hopefully it won't be too painful of a bill that comes out of it.

As for the hood, maybe I can get Ford to do a goodwill replacement given the warranty expiration...otherwise a Cervinis GT500 style hood is the way to go for me :)

Probably why Ford’s fix under warranty is to replace the hood. Their body shop guys probably can’t fix them properly.

I seriously doubt the paint issues are from the factory. Based on the hokie mods, I'm reminded of my neighbor who just obtained a 392 Charger. His M.O. is quite similar to what you describe for the prior owner of your car. He had it repainted from white to aqua. From a distance it looks like a decent paint job, but when one gets close, it has many paint issues as you have shown on your vehicle.

I think a local body shop can fix these affected areas. Have you tried reaching any of them?

Ya I agree with the masses. The hood was replaced and that color can't be dead shot so you need the blend into adjacent panels and probably prepped by a moron so the wax job fished the panel and they did know how to correct it while doing the paint. That could have been avoided/repaired while applying the base clear. I inspect every coat for imperfections. You can fix things before you bury it with clear. A good repair shop can get er done. The only problem is I don't paint over bad work because it will bite you in the ass. The panels need to be removed stripped and start over with an epoxy base. Use the best materials available. Saving money on paint products never works out on a car you like. If it was and old corolla maybe.
Good luck.

Bubbled paint on aluminum panels is NOT a warranty issue with Ford. There is a TSB that covers the replacement of these panels.
Paint bubbling/corrosion IS covered under Ford’s paint & corrosion warranty. The TSB updated the procedure from repair to replace if im recalling correctly. And if memory serves, the TSB also stipulated that the corrosion did not have to break through, bubbling would also be covered. It’s irrelevant to OP since he’s out of warranty, though. @Cobra Jet has all of these housed somewhere. Let me know if my memory sucks CJ šŸ˜‰
