Just an FYI the repair is actually a new hood. Thereās no repainting that corrosion, it will just keep coming back.but clearly never repaired under warranty (now expired)
I appreciate all of the feedback! I have my body shop ready to look at it when I pull the car out for spring. Hopefully it won't be too painful of a bill that comes out of it.
As for the hood, maybe I can get Ford to do a goodwill replacement given the warranty expiration...otherwise a Cervinis GT500 style hood is the way to go for me![]()
Probably why Fordās fix under warranty is to replace the hood. Their body shop guys probably canāt fix them properly. The hood can be saved, it just depends on if they know the proper techniques to do so.
Paint bubbling/corrosion IS covered under Fordās paint & corrosion warranty. The TSB updated the procedure from repair to replace if im recalling correctly. And if memory serves, the TSB also stipulated that the corrosion did not have to break through, bubbling would also be covered. Itās irrelevant to OP since heās out of warranty, though. @Cobra Jet has all of these housed somewhere. Let me know if my memory sucks CJBubbled paint on aluminum panels is NOT a warranty issue with Ford. There is a TSB that covers the replacement of these panels.
