I have a carport and used factory one on my 2016 blue/black stripes Shelby and now use factory one on my 2017 white/blue stripes Shelby and it works just fine. As others say it feels a little rough but it never left or has left any scratches. I do think if car had to sit outside with no over head cover you would want a softer more moisture repellent one. But otherwise I have now problems with my factory one what so ever.

I know by PPF you guys are talking about wrap, but what’s PPF stand for?
96cobra...any chance you could provide details on that cover? Looks great.
Sure, mine is the satin stretch with custom embroidery. Pricey, but I plan on keeping the car a long time and when you look at what the factory cover costs ($375), it really isn't that bad price wise for the upgrade ($449 plus options).

2 years ago my Shelby had to spend a weekend outdoors with the cover on. We had a little late season snow. The cover worked well IMO. It kept the moisture out. I just lightly brushed the snow off the cover.

I bought my cover on E-Bay from a former GT350 owner for $265 shipped. Was still in the box. I would start their 1st.
I too have only used it indoors and at 1st was skeptical of the underside of the stripes. I have had no issues with scratching.

Here's an alternative - it's available both direct from Covercraft or through Weathertech for a bit of a discount.

It's sort of a lycra on the outside with a nice flannel liner - much heavier than it looks - and comes in a bunch of colors.

I have one and think it is too rough for the paint. Meaning - risk of micro scratches as I have a black car. I ordered a softer one.
I agree with you totally as I do not like the feel of the factory Shelby GT350/R car covers as they feel is terrible in my opinion compared to the Covercraft car covers (Formfit) that I have had in the past. Even the feel of the Boss 302 car covers are much better than the new Shelby covers from my standpoint.

I didn't even order a factory car cover for my 2018 GT350R and will go with another Covercraft cover.

The feel, fit and finish on the Covercraft covers are the best bang for the buck in my opinion and they have lots of choices for colors.

Ever time I remove or put on a Covercraft car cover on one of my cars I am so impressed on how soft and thick the material is.

You will get micro scratches no matter what no matter how careful you clean car if its driven at all. Even brand new ones at dealerships will show some when direct sun light hits them. And darker colors especially black is the worst.

I purchased an Original California car duster. You’ll hear definitive opinions both positive and negative regarding the effectiveness of it. When I do take the car out and come back with only dust on the car I use it along with a waterless spray and I’ve had no issues then using the OEM cover.

Nfs1000f Thats close to exactly what I do. Have always used Original California car duster on my new vehicles. Only difference is I put some wash and wax in a bucket with water and use an Absorber to then wipe car down rinsing out Absorber every little bit as I go. My car is white with blue stripes and yes if light is hitting directly on car you will see some micro scratches but not as obvious as darker colors do. Then put OEM cover on. If car is real dirty from a trip I still always hand wash it. Spray it down with water then with a soft wash mitten wash car with bucket of wash and wax and water. Then wipe dry with my Absorber then cover it up with the OEM cover in the carport. I do try to drive it down the block and back while still wet to get the brake rotors shinny so they don't rust over other wise next time I take it out they are locked up pretty good and make a loud pop breaking loose backing out of carport.

guys, a little confused. The Shelby GT350 cover IS Covercraft. On the box it says Covercraft Industries. Quality looks good to me, but then again, I havent had many covers.

The factory cover, simply feels like it might damage, but it will not.
The beauty of it is that nothing will stick to the inside of it and embed in it, which is far and away, the biggest source of scratches.
Those with flannel like interiors are fine if you religiously clean the car before you cover, which is tough and why they look dirty , especially on the bottoms, after time.
I really did not love it at first but they seem to be well designed.

I agree 100% with your assessment. When I received the cover I was disappointed. I thought for sure the stripes would damage the paint. My car is Lightning Blue, I have a black painted roof and have seen no signs of scratching. And what you say about the "flannel like" covers is so true. The OEM cover will not take hold of the dirt. Softer is not always better.

I use a leaf blower to dry the wheels and rotors. Just driving it a little will dust up the rear panel which may scratch when putting the cover back on.
