So, I've got about 500 miles on her and already have to bring it in. Now, out of all the problems to have, this is probably the best in the grand scheme of things. Basically last night when I was coming home I was accelerating onto the highway when I heard some kind of pop. Almost like I ran over a piece of metal. I remember immediately checking the mirrors to see what it was, but there was nothing. I thought it was strange but continued on my way home. As I was rolling into my neighborhood, I do as I always do and tried to put the exhaust in normal mode... But nothing happened. I thought it was strange but nothing I could do about it so pulled in the garage and began to inspect it. I could see the valve partially open but it wouldn't close. Only on the right side though. Almost as if it were obstructed but I couldn't see anything blocking it. I was going to start messing with it but figured that's what a warranty is for anyway. I'm sure some of you out there are asking why i would ever want to fix it right? Well for starters, a huge selling point for my wife was the fact that I could quiet it down as sometimes I get home from work fairly late. Let's put it this way, half of my neighborhood came over to thank me for getting rid of my last mustang. Anyway, was curious if anyone else had this happen to them? Also on a side note, I had the car shipped to me from a few states over and didn't have the splitter installed yet. Anyone actually paid to have theirs installed? Just curious what I should expect to pay as I'm having another dealership locally do it.

Probably a small rock or pebble holding open the valve.

The splitter is easy to install if you have everything and it's no sweat at all if you have a jack and some stands. If you really want to pay to have it done, an hour of labor should probably be reasonable as there's no way it should take any longer than that.

i had a bad actuator on mine on the drive home from the dealership with 12 miles on it!, had intermittent failure where it wouldn't switch to sport...they ended up changing the entire cat-back exhaust since the actuator/muffler assembly is a mated pair and not field replaceable.

For the front splitter install. The dealer I had bought it from installed it incorrectly, my local dealer charged 1 hour of labor to re-install it back to the original dealer. Should be no more than the 1 hour of labor charge.

Muffler actuators are now serviceable and you don't have to replace entire exhaust setup.

The splitter install should be part of the dealer prep. As long as you bought it new, should be able to have any dealer install it. If they want to they can charge back. There is a detailed Ford install video on YouTube.

I wish my dealer would have left it off. I was not aware of all the dealers improperly installing the splitters. On my drive home my splitter flew off while cruising down the highway. Was extremely lucky it didn't damage my car, I didn't crash while trying to pull over, or cause an accident that could have hurt or killed someone.

If you do have a dealer install. Make sure they have watched the video and install all of the screws. Especially the ones at a 45 degree angle.
