***UPDATE****

It seems mine shipped this morning around 11am! I have been provided a rail car number (CSX Transport) so assume I can track exactly where it is online - I shall check this out later.

Thanks to everyone for their comments, it seems the 'unknown' element of my wait is over and the final leg should be straightforward.

I bet my car is on there with yours; it was loaded today and heading to a dealer in NJ. Mind sharing the rail car number? (PM is fine)

A lot of times they will hold a car for a random part that's missing. Most likely your shift knob or something was missing and they held a bunch of cars for the same missing parts. They can show "complete" in the manufacturing process but placed on an internal shipping hold until the inspector gets the missing pieces in hand from the manu's.

I looked on CSX's website but it seemed to state that I needed to be a commercial customer and was asking for my company information etc. I did call up their automated number but this asked for an ID number of some kind which I don't have. Anyone have experience tracking CSX rail cars?

Called CSX (1-877-744-7279) and then picked an option for railcar information (5) and then (3) for locate (TouchTrace automated tracing system). It then connects the call to the CSX Touch Trace. Then say "location". And then it asks for you to speak the railcar letters and then the numbers.

if you are referring to the car initial, that it the CTTX
then say the number.

just an FYI it works better on a land phone than cell phone. its automated so you have to say the letters slowly but it still gets them wrong like "C" "E" "T" all sound familiar

When the train arrives in Chester PA this is about 85 miles from my dealer in NJ so assume this last leg will just be on a trailer of some description.

No idea how long the train journey takes or how long it takes when it arrives at Chester and is swapped to a truck etc. My dealer claims 7-10 business days from when its shipped until when it arrives with him which would mean that I could be collecting mid-late next week!!!

FWIW, my train arrived on a friday night, unloaded saturday am, and car delivered to dealer monday mid day

Wow, what made you buy from Monterey?

I bought through a broker. They had the car being built exactly the way I wanted. It was a great buying experience. Never saw the dealer or the car until it arrived at my house.

Was your car definitely on that same CSX Rail car as mine? I thought that train was headed for Chester PA but I guess it made other stops on the way or something? I had heard that the train leaving from Michigan took 7 days to reach Chester PA but I admit I couldn't find if it made multiple stops on its journey.

I haven't heard from my dealer yet but who knows, maybe today is when I get the call!

I'm not sure if it was on the same car, but when I called in to track the train car on Tuesday night, it said that it had been unloaded and was empty.
