I have a 2019 Mustang GT PP1 with a Roush supercharger. I like the sound of the stock exhaust so I had never considered changing the exhaust. I wouldn't go the headers route but would do cat-backs. Will aftermarket catbacks add much to the car other than sound and negligible hp gain? Should I get catbacks to allow the SC to breathe more?

I also have a 2019 GT with PP1 and Roush Supercharger (Dealer Installed). I previously owned a 2004 Mustang GT. I modified the exhaust (Borla cat back, MRT mid pipe, then catless) and initially loved it but then grew tired of the sound/tone. I ended up trading it after 11 years for a S2000. I do regret trading it. I should have kept it as my second car.

Back to my 2019 Mustang GT. The stock sound to me is very good (much better than the 2004 GT); however, I wanted a little more, but not too much more. I went with the Roush H Pipe Resonator Delete $255. In my opinion it is perfect. Deeper tone and more aggressive sound without having to spend a lot of money. I had local shop install for $80.

Magnaflow has some pretty cool setups that maintain the active exhaust if you have that and they seem to keep the lower tones rather than getting raspy.

Yes, I have the active exhaust. so far, I have looked into the magnaflow street and the Borla S-type and touring. Still, I don't want to change if all I am getting is sound. I don't want to risk getting drone and I like the stock exhaust sound

I wouldn't say a catback system will really get you gains that you would really see to be honest. The best route to go to help the engine breath with the supercharger on it is of course headers or a cat delete. If you have any questions or ever become interested on going either route, let me know. Lethalperformance.com

Same situation except I went with the Steeda H-Pipe with the same results you got.

Headers and exhaust will relieve back pressure.
Headers will pick up HP and so will your exhaust simply because most aftermarket exhausts are 3" you will relieve back pressure and gain some HP out of it.
Headers are nearly the same cost as an exhaust but way harder to install. if you like the sound of the stock system, I would keep it, you're inviting trouble by changing ANY component in it.
I actually don't recommend resonator deletes, because sound is a qualitative trait, it differs on how each person perceives it. You may end up with drone or don't like the sound then want to change the entire thing or go back to stock, and at the point its a waste.

catbacks are mainly for sound , on average we see none to a 1-2 hp gain

the most we ever dyno'd with a consistent 7hp add to the tires was the new solo cyclone system, we picked up a solid 7rwhp , that was 3 back to back hot pulls before and after same temp and timing, in general, i tell people to buy based on sound

I was told that the LTH is not going to be louder than the cat back exhaust.

No catless lth will be louder than a catback. Listen to Terry not magnaflow. Also the active exhaust on the magnaflow is quiet or track because of their muffler design. If you go catless for power, magnaflow Tru x resonator gives a nice deep sound.

Catless WILL be louder, With Cats WILL be less louder, the sound will be very noticeable on acceleration and deceleration
People that know will be able to tell you have them on your car.

Headers are were it's at if you want power. Catbacks sound good, but wont add a ton.
