Yes same 10-speed, its also in the Camaro. It is not what owners have said about it in the Camaro and F150, its being nothing but praised, maybe PH got a broken example or the auto is still terrible compared to EU variants.

Still it is worrying, my main reason for change is I don't want a manual any more, but I want a good Auto, one that is nearly as good as PDK or M-DCT, worse case as good as DSG. If its like they say or no real marked improvement on the outgoing 6-speed auto which I dislike, sorry to the guys here who have one, but its just not for me. If the case it would be course for me to cancel my order and probably depart from Mustang ownership and try to find something else. :(
I couldn't have an auto. Just not my thing. If it was a proper paddle-shift 'box yes I'd have one (love the SMG on my M3, cheers for allaying my concerns on that Gibbo by the way!), but an auto just doesn't appeal - no matter how good it is, it's still an auto and will do its own thing. I like being able to select a gear myself, either via a stick or a switch, and stay in that gear until I decide otherwise.

But as far as the actual car is concerned I really like the MY18 and prefer the Euro spec rear lights, as I did last time. It's a great looking car. However I noticed in one video that the GT PP still gets those cool centre gauges, so I think there are still a lot of unknowns with regard to the actual spec and options list for RHD (availability of Recaros for example). Overall though it's going to be a MUCH better car than my MY16 (which I loved, by the way); upgraded engine, manual gearbox, transmission, suspension, exhaust and interior. I've even decided on a colour!

But will I be ordering a MY18? Not sure. The car itself isn't the problem, it's everything else. The issues with ordering, spec and after-sales service last time around I could just about tolerate for ÂŁ35k and if I squinted I could pretend I hadn't noticed the poor build quality. But I can't see a manual GT with all the options being less than ÂŁ45k this time around - and the issues I had with my 16 would be completely unacceptable at that kind of money. I think I'll wait until I can actually see a car this time before I commit to putting any money down and Ford/dealers will also have to step up in terms of customer service or I'll just buy something else.

It would appear its a better car,but the build quality and customer experience will be just the same.Sometimes i drive my car and it feels great, the suspension mods have really transformed the car, apart from that the car is stock, i haven't done any tune and I'm sure if i drove a tuned s550 i would be pleasantly surprised how much it has woken up.Sometimes though my car feels crap, its like i can feel every gearchange and every cog, the gearbox is horrible and i know thats how they are but then i go into find fault mode, and all the little bits that i know that should have been done better plague my mind.We have a ticking time bomb of oil coolers and AC evap core which is an horrendous dash pull out on a new car.
35k is still alot of money, but 45/50 k to me knowing your going to get the same dodgy panel alignments, paint issues and newer components that may yet fail in time lead me to sit on the fence and wait this time.I still love my mustang but is it a blind love lol..... magnets holding trim in thats kit car stuff!

Glad our enjoying the M3 buddy. SMGII is so good because it is a manual transmission, all they did was delete the clutch pedal and operate it via hydraulics.

But trust me when I see the M-DCT moved the game on even further. Yes SMGII is raw, its the closest you will get to a full on race sequential gear box in a car, the downside being at low speeds it can be a bit clunky/jerky unless the entire system is restored (engine/gearbox mounts, diff bushes, slave cylinder, internals etc) and full auto mode works, but I think that is the nicest word to say, it works. :D

M-DCT loses a touch of the rawness but in exchange is super smooth at all speeds, works great as an auto and still lets you do everything you could on SMG2 in manual mode, its just more refined.

What nailed it for BMW was the speed selector, the fact you can setup the gearbox independent of any other setting is absolute genius by BMW, so simple but so good, for town and launches I use S3, for a brisk drive I use S4 and for a hardcore drive or track I use S6.

I've tried every type of clutch less manual and auto box now, M-DCT really is the best if you love driving, but no longer want a stick. Porsche is second best with PDK sports plus. If you ever get chance go drive an E92/3 M3 with M-DCT, its smooth but savage. :)

I was speaking to a German owner of the Mustang and he is actually looking into retrofitting the M-DCT box into the Mustang, because the combination of Coyote V8 with M-DCT box would be the ultimate solution.

Why has nobody done this sooner?! (Or PDK etc etc etc?)

Hi Gibbo. Loving the M3. Carbon airbox is now on and ECU is away being CSL cloned/tuned. Hoping to get another day at Silverstone before the winter arrives.

Yes, I've driven a few DCT's and they are a fantastic technical achievement - seamless gear changes and almost telepathic in their ability to know what you're going to do next. But the very fact that the SMG unit isn't 'perfect' is why I love it so much. I love being able to feel it changing gear, especially when you're giving it the berries. Seamless double-clutch shifts are great but to me it's just something else that insulates you from the mechanical experience of driving a car. That said, I wouldn't be complaining if I had a track prepped E90 with DCT :D

If I get a MY18 it will definitely be a manual though. All my cars at the moment are auto/clutchless and I miss the precision and skill of having to use a gear lever and clutch. That said, a MY18 is still going to come nowhere near the M3 in terms of pure performance so if all I want is a manual car for the road that looks and sounds good then maybe the classic car route is the way forward?

Depends what you want, for a road blaster with unbeatable feel, Lotus Elise surely if its going to be a weekend toy. :)

The MY18 will be a GT, comfy big cruiser that does not mind being chucked around.

You might find once you get the M3 in a sweet place you just end up driving it a lot more than you ever expected, I have used mine as a daily and it see's a lot of road use because its simply freaking awesome to drive and when you do as were doing, they are extremely quick even in straight lines due to lack of weight.

Seems the UK dealerships, much more switched on, here are our options guys:

http://www.kentmustang.com/uk-mustang-models/2018-mustang-my18

We can choose those lovely Forged wheels! :D

So based on that I am going:

- V8 GT Fastback 10-speed
- Magneride
- Recaro black sports seats
- Custom Pack 4 with 12-speaker, satnav, forged wheels
- Black roof
- Orange fury paint
- Rear Spoiler DELETED

Delivery March/April, when is new reg?

Assuming digital dash, active exhaust is standard equipment that gives pretty much my dream specification.

Only thing really left is no mention of carbon pack (can retrofit dash trim / door cards).

Great stuff; those wheels are SO much nicer than the ones we have (which I cannot stand).
Finally the Recaros too; standard seats are great, but I'd have spec'd those if I could.

Looks like they listened. Now for the price, please.
