All engines, even bone stock will have failures from any manufacture in the world. As long as its within an acceptable threshold, there is no issue. I honestly believe there is no issue at all with the 2.3L. We only think the numbers are higher because we're looking for the failures. Many moons ago, the stock engine on my 1998 Taurus windowed the block while just driving down the road. How the hell that happened on a what 150hp V6 is beyond me.....

As for gas mileage, I freaking hate my EB. Maybe its because my driving is 90% city but I average a whopping 17.3 mpg by driving what I consider normally. I've even driven it like there is a egg between my foot and the pedal and barely hit 23 mpg. Oh yeah, having a Prius take off from a light leaving you behind while they're probably still getting 40 flooring it is depressing as hell.

I mostly regret not opting for the V6 at the time since I went base anyways.

I get about 17.5mpg but I'm always generous with the gas pedal to get up to speed, ~60/40 city/backroad, from what I saw I could get ~28mpg on the highway, I don't get how some are getting 30++ mpg with this car but it's not like I'm trying either. Still more reasonable compared to a friend with a modded Gt averaging 11-12mpg!

Love my base ebm with FP tune didn't liked the v6 I test drove as much but it was close-ish when compared stock to stock, FP tune really changed the power delivery for the better on the ebm.

The only time I get over 30 is on my commute. It's 63 miles (each way) twice a week. Part of it is limited access road (like a freeway, but nothing to do with the interstates) and part of it a 2 lane.

There are only about 12 lights along the way and most times traffic is heavy, but not backed up so it's cruising at 50 to 70 most of the way.

When I measure those trips I get about 31 mpg on 93 octane. My normal average, when I just let it go for weeks, which includes those trips and lots of driving around town, hovers around 24.5.

My commute is 80% highway at 70-75. I have 2300 miles on my 2018 and I have averaged 27.8 mpg over the 2300 miles. That's with going to the track twice with about 12 passes and with 0 to 60 sprints here and there. I'm coming from a Jeep that got 17mpg at best so ill take it haha.

I get better gas mileage with both city and highway with my Ecoboost than I did with when I had a V6. For short drives around town, I get about 3 mpg more. For long highway driving I get about 5 - 7 mpg more. I have driven from Milton, GA to Florence, KY on a single tank. With the V6, I did really well to reach Richmond, KY from Milton, GA. And I do not take it easy on the gas petal.

I get about 25 MPG around town and as high as 33 on a long trip (checked, not trusting the gauge). The kicker is you have to use PREMIUM gas (I have the FP tune). Believe it or not, the cost per month between the 2012 GT auto I owned and the 2015 Ecoboost auto premium PP is almost the same. 87 in the GT and 93 in the Ecoboost. (I noticed no seat of the pants difference between 87 and 93 in the GT).

My average is about 18mpg with 90% city driving...when I use it on the freeway I average 30mpg. I don't baby it either so that 18mpg I think is pretty good since I have a heavy foot :D

Yeah, on a road trip I can get 30+ out of her. Unfortunately, its my daily driver and my commute to/from work is 100% city so ~17mpg. When I said drive normally, I meant sports car normal

I have a Ecoboost Mustang with the Performance Package (3.55 rear end). The EPA hiway rating is 28 mpg. I regularly get over 32 mpg on a hiway trip keeping it around 70 mph. My normal commute is 50 miles round trip in a suburban environment where I can maintain an average speed of 40 mph, here I get 27 to 30 mpg. When I am out cruising where I run it through the gears often it drops to 25 to 26 mpg.

I seldom do any city driving so can really speak for the mileage, but you have to remember when you are sitting idling in traffic the car is getting ZERO mpg.

at 60mph my car wouldn't touch 44mpg. That's a fantasy world these cars are not capable of. 32mpg is the absolute best I ever achieved with the car.

Ive owned both and I'm pretty positive v6 would win. More top end rather then dropping off at 5500 rpm's. Again were talking stock vs stock.
There's not a chance in the world the v6 will outperform the Ecoboost in any way shape or form stock vs stock. When I rented a v6 in 2015 I raced a friends ecoboost.

You can peg the mpg if you have a manual car and drive in 6th at 45-50mph, my record is something around 48 mpg coasting in neutral on hills.

If you think you get bad city mileage with your driving habits, you'd get butt f....ed in a 5L. Believe me I have alot of GT guys in my cruise group.

22.5 city for me and 3-0 against 2015+ GT's

It is a math equation . Divide the amount of fuel added gallons from the amount of miles you have driven on those gallons . Do the math you will be surprised .
