Plenty of centrifugal guys run a filter directly on the blower or a turbo guard. It's just fine. Doesn't slow them down at the track.
Yea but don't those use a MAF sensor to measure the amount of the air the engine is consuming at different load and rpms. The PCM has to have a means to know airflow, load, rpm, TPS, ECT and numerous other parameters to function at peak performance.

Well, didn't Chelsea DeNofa do that when he built foxbody drift car with 2.3l Ecoboost engine. Then theoretically it should be possible.

Don't know who Denofa is so cannot say what system or tuning he is using but it's likely he is not using a factory PCM in that drift car with the eco motor so just saying he is using a filter directly on the turbo with a pic is not giving any real help with answering the topic being discussed. The PCM has to have a means to measure air flow and many other parameters for it to adjust the tuning to run properly.

Ecos don't have a MAF as they are MAP

Coyotes can use a MAF located after the turbo/supercharger

I would think using a MAF after the SC or turbo would require different tuning to operate properly since the air flow would quite a bit greater than before the SC or turbo.
