Hi all ,
I am waiting hard on a black with black leather Eco boost. I am in Ireland and the V8 was nearly €6-7000 more and the road tax is up at €2000 per annum compared to the 2.3. From what I can gather the interior on bother are the same and on the outside the grille and rear panel are different , what else is different , I ve used the search feature but I've probably missed threads thanks in advance :ford:

Check out the new brochure thread near the top of the second page. That'll get you started until guys weigh in with differences ;)

I'm pretty sure the only difference visually, other than the rear badge & grille like you say, are the 5.0 badges on the front wings. Ecoboost will come with different wheels which you can see on the website, I think that's it!

Unless you have very deep pockets how much fuel can you buy with the cash saving of the EB over the V8? Convert that saving into miles you can drive - then that is a lot of 'free' driving.
If you ain't racing and your car is a daily driver and you don't have the cash to burn but want a Mustang then the EB is the way to go - after all to 99.9% of the population it is the same car. Don't get pulled in by the 5.0L fanatics - regardless of the debate that the EB will turn around the same fuel consumption in the real world as the 5.0L - even if it does you still have the cash saving in your pocket so you are always ahead financially and looking forward to the time you get rid of it I think the EB will be easier to move on than a 'gas guzzling' 5.0L.
Just my opinion and nothing to do with the fact that I have a DIB EB to - hopefully - pick up in a couple of weeks :)

  • EcoBoost has a different wheel design, but still 19" and gloss black.
  • EcoBoost has a different grille without "power bars".
  • GT has "GT" badge on the back instead of a running horse.
  • GT has "5.0" badges on the front wings.
  • EcoBoost has a slightly smaller front splitter.
  • GT has 6-piston breaks at the front rather than 4-piston like the EcoBoost.

Differences are minimal aside from the breaks. But the car is much lighter so its not an issue.

Even as a 5.0L Customer I agree with you, just get the engine that suits you best and don't listen to the people who think V8 == only engine option worth having. This is 2015, not 1982 - there is a replacement for displacement now and its called Turbo Charging.

Its £4000 extra in your back pocket and potentially higher fuel economy. If you're here asking about the major differences between the two cars then I assume you're really not that bothered how many cylinders you have. The EcoBoost is still 317 horsepower and sub 6-seconds to 62mph. That's still "I'm going to die very quickly" speeds.

Go sit in a quiet spot, think carefully about it and then ask yourself "do I 100% want the V8?"

If you are not 100% certain on the V8 then don't get the V8 - if you're not 100% hell-bent on getting one you'll regret it very quickly when you visit the petrol pump for the 3rd time in the first week.

V8 has launch control and line lock.

I think you can still specify what wheels you want at extra cost, with the same options available for both IIRC.

I ran through the running costs for both options for a daily driver and the v8 just wouldn't add up.

As nice as it sounded on paper and would sound irl I just couldn't justify 15/20mpg and £500 a year in tax.

The ecoboost is quick enough and it's still a mustang so I'm happy with that.

It's all down to your bank balance at the end of the day.

I am not sure you are right with this. I did look at that method and considered the ecoboost but then I thought hang on, what about getting the V8 and a big bucket of sand to put my head in if I run into problems running it!

Well the head said no but my heart said yes. And my Mum told me to look after my heart so I took Mums advice and brought a V8

This guy got 24.5 US mpg in the V8 over a 50 mile run, mostly highway with some city. That's nearly 30 mpg in the UK.

Just look at the instantaneous mpg, you should get it then. I get 200mpg in my Golf while going downhill :headbang:
