Ok EB owners
Hp on the dyno

Ford says it's stock at 313 hp (approx) how do the measure this ?

Looking on line 250/260 on the fly wheel seems to be an average from stock model

What would you be the expected hp for the Flywheel on -

Stage 1. ?

Stage 2. ?

Stage 3. ?

Do any of you have personal experience of this

Thank you in advance

Im going to talk strictly ecoboost here.
Engine power is a bit harder to calculate, you usually use machine correction and different dynos have different correction rates, Gibbo swears by Maha dyno's as they calculate Engine BHP pretty much bang on (Having seen the runs of the GT's on it, it calculates it exactly as what ford state).
WHEEL horsepower, is totally different, that's how much power actually gets to the wheels.

Online maybe wrong, US guys are running about 285 to the flywheel on our level of fuel, the car itself loses loads of BHP (EB THIS IS). Corrected that's near to the 310 ish they claim.

Now, we're going to get into something a little more tricky... Tunes, each tune can release different power, for the BEST tune for the Ecoboost that safely squeezes the most power out of your car it's @Tune+ it always will be Adam is a god with the ecoboost engines and is quickly (already) the go to guy with any American with half an gram of common sense.

Furthermore, BHP and Torque can be different, torque will make you feel like you're faster and have more "punch".

Stage 1 (No longer done by Adam at Tune+) is usually a basic intake (High Flow Panel Filter) or CAI (Cai's are SH1T for the EB, never get one).

Stage 2 (Adam will be the most BHP/Torque for this, same with Stage 3 and beyond), Usually intercooler, exhaust, intake (from S1): Expect near to the 350 wheels from this, it does depend on your intercooler though. IC's such as the Mishimoto whereas it is better than stock, for the money, it's not worth it - The best 3 intercoolers are SF, ETS and Levels. In the UK we also get the Wagner tuning one which is very very good, and REVO's new intercooler by the stats seems good, but I need to have a private discussion with these.

Stage 3: Usually downpipe, finishing off the intake, etcL Expect close to 380 to the wheels on adams tune.

There's then other power upgrades for the ecoboost. These are:
Wastegate Actuator
Dump Vales
Vargas Twin Scroll Turbo
The above should easily take you to 425 at the wheels which is the stock motors limit, anything above you're looking at suicide.

Things America gets for more horsies: e35/85.

Things we can get from America for more horsies: Meth Kits/Uprated injectors etc.

To reach huge BHP you're going to need to build the engine block as well.

Now onto what I'd be doing if I had unlimited funds and an insurance who weren't pests.:

I'd be setting up my car ready for the tune in this order (and I know I didn't follow this)
Catch Can - UPR or Mishimoto
Spark Plugs from Adamtuned - Stock plugs have a wide differential in gapping and have a lot of fun misfiring or knocking...
High Flow filter - K&N or AFE if you want a dry filter
Air Raid Intake Tube
Velossatech Ram Air Intake
Intercooler from my list above
Exhaust

Skip stage 1 tune, straight into Adams "stage 1" - Pro tuned so it's effective with all my mods

Then Upgraded Turbo, WGA, DV, Downpipe and Tune again, and be done with it.

This all being said, I think our numbers in the UK will be lower than the US, and Air densities, Air quality, location, altitude, and much more will effect the power outputs on Dynos.
I also know you're specifically looking at Cobb's stage 1/2/3. So it's worth just checking their numbers.

Things to avoid for POWER on the ecoboost:
Cold Air Intakes - I've seen them all ran on dynos, they all have less power than the stock box (Stock box with Velossa, K&N/AFE and Air raid - Godly)
Stock Spark Plugs - Rubbish gapping, inconsisten power
Canned Tunes - Cobbs Stage 1 is the best canned tune, but others, I wouldn't touch, I'd only put the car in the hands of a professional tuner. That includes some muppets who think the SCT Stage 1/2/3 repackaged by dreamscience is any good, it's trash. I'd sooner spend my money paying for a randomer to go on holiday than waste it on a canned tune.
Stock intercooler - Heatsoaks like a mofo

Remember, your engine is the most crucial part of the car, take care of it, it'll take care of you. Every engine Is different, every car is different, take it to a pro who will treat it as such.

Any questions give me a shout.

Couple of other points .... its a turbo engine (obviously) therefore run Super Unleaded, Shell VPower or Costco 99 (which is reportedly Shell only 10-15p litre cheaper), Manders likes Tesco 99 (it has a bit too much Ethanol in for my liking)
And importantly when you've got the Cobb Accessport set up the gauges and monitor what the car is doing. Initially set it up for Boost, Octane Adjust Ratio (make sure that sits at -1.00) , Charge Air Temp & Ignition Corrections on Cylinder 3

More ethanol = more powah!

But yes, as I mentioned, always run 99 fuel, either of Graham's 3 mentioned are fine.

And yeah, the Cobb AP, is leagues ahead of the SCT tuner as you can log check all of the data as you go. But then again, any tuner using SCT as a platform for the EB isn't worth your time :clap2:

More ethanol = more powah! :
That is not true: Ethanol has less energy content than gasoline so it can't produce as much power.

It does raise octane so you can tune an engine to make more power because of the octane increase. But, gasoline you buy at the pump takes advantage of the octane bump by reducing the use of more expensive octane boosters so the end result is gasoline with the same octane that gets worse mileage because of lower energy content of Ethanol.

Note the laughing face at the end of it ;)!

To be honest the difference in the two fuels we're discussing is both 99 rated fuels (UK 99 this is).
