E85 flex tune for 350

does Torco have MMT? Seems like all their competitors do, and most off the shelf too. It is kinda nasty, despite all the BS about it being safe their are engineering reports that it does clog and gunk up plugs, sensors, and cats. It may not be as fast as unleaded but it does not run clean. I will check on Torco but if it has MMT i am done with it.

I'm interested also. Torco was recommended by John Lund Sr and one of the guys at Watson.

I think I'm just gonna start using Sunoco 260GT. I don't want to deal with the E85 bs and for as much as I get to drive my car on the street the side effects are not worth it for me. Plus a true race fuel is cleaner burning and less deposits and it smells Yummy

How does the car detect the octane rating or if it's on e85? My son is looking at doing an e85 tune on an EvoX and said it would take a flex fuel sensor, and I've not heard that mentioned here; illuminate this old man, lol.

the gt350 has a alcohol sensor, each time you fill up the ECU learns the fuel. Standard factory tune however only has maps for e10-maybe e15 I believe. You need a lund or aftermarket tune in order to run higher content and have the fuel maps adjusted to not burn lean.

The tune adjusts timing and monitors knock, nowhere near the same as testing for octane but it should be how it determines relative octane.

So, in essence the GT already has the sensor.

You should buy yourself a E85 tester before you fuel up your car. It's cheap and easy. Summit and jegs sell them. It's just a test tube that you add water to then some E85 and it tells you the E85 percentage before you buy a tank full.

That would be important for a straight e85 tune but not with the flex fuel since it will adjust for any concentration of ethanol.

Would the e85 tune be an addition? If you fill up with 93 it adjusts to that and if you fill up with e85 it adjusts to that? I guess I'm asking if an e85 tune precludes using 93 at times.

Just to be clear, a straight e85 tune requires e85. With the flex fuel tune, which is a recent innovation, you can run anything you want. So if you happen to be somewhere where e85 is unavailable there is no problem.

So the tune would compensate for the lack of octane on its own?
