When your e-brake is disengaged (down), is there any "play" in the handle? There seems to be some play (about 1-2 inches up and down) when the e-brake is disengaged. It does seem to hold fine when engaged. It just seems odd that it would have that kind of play in it.

Thanks!

Thanks for this, but I'm not necessarily talking about the brake engaging at a certain click level, I'm more talking about the lever having lots of free play from "down" up to the first lever click. Unless I misunderstand and adjusting the cable underneath will tighten up the free play in the lever when "unlocked"...

There is zero play in my lever when fully released.

Yeah over time, hundreds of pulls and releases causes the cable to have some play in it. I had enough play where it would think it was engaged when i was driving, all you have to do is follow the break cable and go down under the car closer towards the rear along the drive shaft and tighten the nut that splits the cable off to the two rear tires. If you tighten it too much you'll have no play in it but it will be way too tight and might actually be engaged, just find the sweat spot with no play but where its not grabbing on the rotors.
Heres a photo for reference:thumbsup:

Thanks for this, and thanks for the reference pic as well! Kind of a stupid question, but if it's tightened too much and engaged, would the "brake" dash light come on as a warning? Or do I just have to notice the car driving sluggish like through mud?

Yeah no problem, first time I tightened it I of course did it to much and you'll feel the friction being put on the driveline by the break. The light won't come on because i think it has to be pulled up a certain amount to register, but yeah you can also just feel the hand break when you pull it. If it barely goes up and is super hard then you know its too tight, leave no slack but to where it feels like normal. Hope this helps! Edit- you can lift up the driver side with a jack and tighten it with a 10 or 13 mm wrench, you might also have to hold the other end of the bolt with a pair of pliers as it might start turning on you.

I adjust by engaging the e-brake one click... tighten the adjuster nut until you hear the rear brakes drag slightly (wheels off). Release the e-brake and you shouldn't hear any drag...done.
