To add to that, I've never in over 30 yrs of messing with cars heard a drone in anything other that a chambered muffler. If you aren't running a chambered muffler, you don't have drone. Simple as that.

FRPP Borla Touring....

My perspective: middle aged father, lives in a family friendly neighborhood, drives 25 miles one way to work in mixed rural-highway-city traffic. You know, Mr. Vanilla, in most respects.

After getting my glorious 435 HP Ruby Red GT (base, non PP, no bells, no whistles, no nothing) I knew I wanted a little more aggressive sound over stock. I listened to clip after clip of various exhaust set ups - a special shout out to CJ Pony Parts for their awesome videos. After much hemming and hawing, I got a hell of a deal on a FRPP Borla Touring Cat-back from Jay at Hypermotive. During the time between order and receipt of my system, I began to have second thoughts. I read, then re-read posts on here, becoming more worried after reading Robb's post regarding his concerns about the Touring set up.

After a do-it yourself install, I fired it up with apprehension. I have yet to be able to remove the smile off my face when driving it. Is it louder? Hells yeah. Obtrusively loud? Only when I want it to be. Does it sound a little bit like I'm trying to put down my best ET in the 1/4 mile every time I accelerate? Sort of. Mind you, my previous car was a hummphh... a hyrumphh... okay, it was a freaking hybrid. So of course it is loud to me. I am having second thoughts. Absolutely not. Nothing I perceive as drone here. Only the sound of pure American V8 power - if Chuck Norris had a sound track to life, it would be filled with my exhaust noise on cold start-ups. You won't forget what you are driving, but to me that is the point.

So, that's my story. Hope it helps in your decision making process.

Really? I know I'm not a fanboy! I don't really care if what I'm hearing is drone or some other BS noise ... I know stock didn't have this noise, my previous Mustangs didn't have this noise and my other cars don't have it either. I want it gone - period.

Btw. SW themself installed it in their facility - so don't blame it on the installation ...

Glad you like it. I loved the sound too and hope people aren't turned off by my review of the Touring. I miss the sound a lot, but just didn't want it full time. Sometimes I just want quiet and the reason I think an active exhaust is better for me. I'm also seriously considering the frpp xpipe with stock mufflers. That may be the perfect inexpensive mild solution for me.

This is what I was thinking about too...this or maybe Lethal resonator delete x or h pipe. So the frpp x pipe deletes the resonator also.. right?

Do you think either of these options with the stock mufflers is not as loud as the FRPP touring? I also want a little louder exhaust but not very much louder...like to listen to music and don't want any drone either.

The FRPP x-pipe is a much easier solution, and only $239. Just saws-all off the resinator and clamp on the x-pipe. I need to hear more sound clips though.
