I’ve thought about getting driving shoes for HPDE events, but I just stick with my Vans skate Old Skool shoes since that’s what I wear everyday when I drive on the street. They have a great “board feel” for skate boarding which translates to a great “pedal feel” when driving.

But… still super interested in trying out some actual driving shoes, especially if they might be good for heel-toe shifting.

I hate them and think they look goofy and wimpy but have no choice but to wear them when I’m driving my manual shift car. Seems the engineers never contemplated anyone who wears a 14EE shoe driving a manual Mustang and didn’t space out the pedals quite enough to prevent contacting two at once. My normal shoes just won’t work.

I get cramps on long drives if my feet are not in a comfy shoe. These have worked out well and walking around is not a problem.

Actually, it’s as close to the door out to the garage as I can keep them without incurring sanctions from the Decorating Committee.

She won’t let me leave them in the hall where I won’t forget them so I just chunk ‘em in there.

Only good thing about gettin’ old is it’s better than not gettin’ old!

I have the same shoes in green. They're so comfortable, I wear them around when I'm not driving.

Johnny Rockit: ask your doctor if Tizanidine might help your cramping issues. Best of luck.

Normally a size 12 wide, I am having an issue with catching the brake when pushing in the clutch. Gonna try these. Picked up used and cheap. They are a bit narrower.

I like the classic low profile Vans myself. Very thin soles

Check out my post #29 above in this thread.

It‘s a real problem for sure.

Piloti makes all kinds of driving shoes. Some have thin, stiff soles. Some, not so much.
I have one pair with stiff soles nearly 20 years old. Another, three years old with really comfortable soft soles (which aren't so good on long drives.)

I have Piloti Drift, which are ok for driving. Super comfortable but have a thicker sole so you lose some pedal feel. I have a pair of Grand Prix Originals Race Sneakers on the way, will report back on those when I get them. They’re more of the track/driving shoes of the two styles the offer. Highly recommended by another member here so I’m giving them a shot.
