After a track session I was checking all the nuts and bolts and came across the piece of metal on the center bearing mount on the driveshaft had come loose, anyone know what purpose does this small metal part serves?

I’ll take a stab at this.
It’s a heat shield to form an air gap thermal break to help mitigate localized exhaust heat on the DS carrier bearing.

Whatever it is, it's installed with pop-rivets, which means they didn't think too highly of it. Which would in turn drive me to not loose much sleep at all over it. I'd yank it the rest of the way off so it doesn't fly off. Or drill out those rivest and screw it in place, if you care enough for the effort.

Since the bearing mount looks aluminum, it could be a air plate to force air upward onto the bearing. or a Data Plate which was riveting on. I would remove or rivet back on. I wouldnt worry about it myself. Good Luck

I like to disassemble things.
