I’m approaching my first 1,000 miles on my Mach 1. Something unusual happened today after I had been out driving today. The weather is on the warmer side.

I went to roll both the drivers and passenger windows down from my drivers side controls. They both had trouble going down like they were getting stuck. The automatic down wouldn’t work. Almost as if it was shorting out after it went down for like a second. My wife could roll down the passenger window perfectly fine with her passenger control.

Let the car sit when I got home for about an hour, works fine using drivers side controls now. Do you guys think the motor that controls the window was just overheating? Seems unusual to me for a new car. Thoughts greatly appreciated.

Almost impossible to try to diagnose without seeing it. That being said, it's under factory warranty. Take it in and get taken care of. :)

Some mustangs seem to leak water on to the window harness and it ends up shorting the wiring. I had erratic window problems. It would either completely bot work and not go down, but more often, it would go down and once down, the up switch did nothing. Next time it happens and you can't lower the window, try pressing down on the malfunctioning switch and hold it down for almost full 60 seconds (seems like enternity). If the switch starts to work again, it could be water infiltration in the door harness.

I took it in under warranty, and dealer said they'd replace the drivers door switch, but the switch was back ordered for two weeks. While waiting, I decided to take part my door and ended up fixing it. Maybe mention to the dealer to check for water in the harness.

I doubt it's an overheating issue....more likely some moisture in the driver's side door switch or a loose connection where it pushes onto the switch. If it does it again, take note of the conditions before and while you're driving it. Is it raining or has it rained recently? It could even just be a glitch that you never experience again.

That’s what I’m hoping. It had rained the day before.

The car sat in the rain all day today in a car show, window worked perfectly. Hoping it was a random 1x thing.
